It's not the easiest of places to get to, we're basically just giving people the option of going for two day trip in Zilina, rather than simply a flight to the game and back. It's a long way to go, just to stay for a matter of hours.
As Im sure you'd expect, Im with Chazz on this. Fair do's for organising something but that looks to me to be a late arrival on the Wed, after taking the whole of Wed off as holiday, so, time for a few drinks in a hotel bar then bed. Thu, you get a few hours in the morning for some tourism, then on to the game, back to the hotel, the same, or a few drinks in some other bars, then up at the crack of sparrows for the bus trip back. You'll be spending more time on buses than owt else. I'm assuming the cost of the bus transfer from Hull to Heathrow is included? Like I say, fair do's for organising your own trips but how the hell can PLT call the clubs offering **** which is pretty much a door to door service for people from Hull who want to see the game? 1 days holiday versus 3, and the 3 will be mostly spent travelling. Oh and Aggro, sorry to break it to you princess but getting tanked up on any flight is a no no. There's no agenda against football fans. Same rules will apply regardless of who you travel with.
Aye fair play to you and ctwd but politically it couldnt have been much worse. M25 was blocked for hours Monday morning, loads of roadworks on the M1 I'd want to set off earlier than dinner Wednesday. Plus its 3 hours from Vienna to Zilina on the bus. Nightmare journey all round. I saw Wizzair flying into Kosice for 200quid, have they all gone? The clubs is a lot better offer as I'm sure PLT will agree.
To be honest, I've been in Portugal for the past two weeks and I've not been involved in this one, so I've no idea what other options were looked at.
When we play a Valencia then it would be great to do 2/3 nights away but the money I'd spend on beer would add another few hundred quid on the price plus I have to take the lad. Plus I'm self employed and dont get paid. So the club doing it in a day would always be the option.
Just had a spanner thrown in my plans. Didn't think about a deposit for a rental car, the driver has to be over 25 so I can't do it, my old man doesn't have enough credit left on his card to cover the deposit (it has to be a credit card, they don't accept debit, in lead drivers name) and my brothers a student. We were going to fly to Katowice on Wednesday, arrive early, visit Auschwitz and go to the game. If anyone has a decent amount of credit on their card to cover the deposit I'd advise this, it's cheap and it gets you all day Wednesday and Thursday. Think we'll just drive it now at less than half the cost. All in 3 of us can do it for £600 only excluding food and drink. My lass won't be happy that I'll be gone 5 days but it serves her right for living with a football fan whose team has just made it into a European cup. Would you believe it!
The clubs offering is crazy expensive for 1 day, for 70 quid more you get a proper holiday out of it. What's not to like? I'm in Turkey now and I've got 11 days here for the same price as the club's one which is a lot closer! The big thing for me though is the typical straight in and out nature of the club's travel, now I know official travel has to be like that really but that's why people don't like using it and prefer arranging their own minibuses etc with like minded fans. I know you two don't like the average football fan, but we like to socialise before and after games, not just be shipped in and out asap like criminals. I'm not a big drinker but I ****ing hate the idea of not having the choice to have a drink just because I'm watching football.
Anyone got any tips for trains, coaches/buses from either Budapest or Vienna to zilina and back? I haven't got a ****ing clue with trains and busses, never use the bloody things. Busses are for gays. Train preferably, don't fancy being a bus ****er.
Both the club's offer and CTWD's offer are decent and on par in value IMO. I've gone with the club to avoid having much time off work, but if I added two nights in a Slovakian hotel it wouldn't be far off the club's price surely? Also the ticket is now included in the club's price. Small but decent gesture.
You can fly out of Luton for £250 quid to Kosice. Hire a car if theres 4 of you for 60 quid for 3 days. Then book accommodation to how much you want to pay. I looked on booking and saw this place. **** me, bit ominous first pic i clicked on was a Tiger. Looks like you'd stay in a derelict funfair. http://www.booking.com/hotel/sk/ran...d=c0a38fdc3843af2b8c35200640fa05642ca04d46X14
I've always got on well with this site, Bob, when looking at European trains http://www.bahn.com/i/view/GBR/en/
I wanted to go on the team plane, out from Humberside Wednesday morning, back late Thursday night, but my mate has something he can't get out of Wednesday night, so I've had to think again. Expedia is now showing no availability on the Kosice flight and it's over three hours away from Zilina. It looks like we'll now fly into Krakow early Thursday, hire a car to drive to Zilina, then fly back Friday morning(if we don't get too pissed and miss the flight). It's £345 each for the flights, found a decent hotel for £65 each and then car hire for a day, probably £1,500 for the three of us.
Apparently me and you don't like average football fans. Or a drink. He seems to think flying people in, giving them time to have a drink, see the game, then leave and get home so they don't need to take more than 1 day off is treating them like criminals. He's also comparing a cheap package holiday with a one off trip to a football game, not to mention that 3 days of which 2 will be spent on a bus is a proper holiday. That's us told. Obvious why me and you aint mods now aint it? Kids today eh?
If I recall correctly you defended WYP in their attempts to brandish the average fan a criminal. That's the implication by ferrying you in and out as fast as possible, which is usually on the insistence of the police. Admittedly it was a bad thing to bring up in relation to a European game. And regarding the cost it wasn't a package. I literally just had a quick google, picked a relatively expensive hotel for the resort knowing in advance that its nice and it's still the same cost for 11 days bed and breakfast as City's travel to Slovakia. I didn't actually say at the trip was **** at all, I just suggested Chazz will proactively praise anything the club does as if in an attempt to irritate those of us who feel negatively towards the club these days, and that this was an example of it. I said the CTWD trip is better, which it surely is for cost and entertainment.
Krakow is 100 miles from Zalina and Manchester is much nearer than Luton, the flight times are also way better, it's a far better option(and it's now booked).
Feeling a little sorry for myself. Found some decent flights, planned all the journey, went to book the flights and after entering all the information... Boom... Someone had snuck in literally just before me and took all the remaining seats. Should have just booked the flights as soon as I found them, planning the train journey and finding the hotels cost me the time it took for someone else to grab em. Not much else that really suits my timescale that isn't a rip off. As much as I want to go I'm not going to get ripped off in doing so, fingers crossed something comes up.
