I like the signings so far and with a fully fit Trybull/Leitner, we COULD surprise a few teams in the early games (and 1p5wich) is our 6th league game. It will be interesting to see if SW/DF try to loan another GK or if they're happy to go with Matthews as first choice. Not too bothered by this news. ANY NEWS OF A STRIKER????
Serious dedication if anybody has! He was playing in the national league for D&R all last season, and only made about half a dozen appearances after we signed him. It's a curious move really, 3 goals in 26 games for a side finishing mid-table in the 5th tier doesn't exactly sound like the kind of form from a 21 year old that would attract interest. Only comments I can find about him was that his hold up play is quite good.
If we get something back for Nelson then I think it is. Josh was sold for £10 11m and we desperately need a goalscorer, add to that his age and stats last season £6m is about right. It would be an ambitious signing with very little risk. Top scorer and 27 goals from 44 , 23 years old.
We wont spend money on a striker. If Leitner signs, I'm glad. Better be under 1M. otherwise I dunno why they keep telling us they are so skint so cant buy a striker. If they can find over 1m for another midfielder. I'd be disappointed. They should know where we need to spend. I don't think they do, again. keep spending on midfielders. No money for a striker we needed the past 6 seasons.
Well you are probably right and the board will bid £2 or 3m , he will go elsewhere and thump in bags of goals for them. Meanwhile we look to SrBeny .
Would prefer Marriott to Rhodes, surely Rhodes is now past it. Was once a good striker a few years back but has been a flop recently at Sheffield Weds. Hope we can also get Wilson from Liverpool, I remember he caused us trouble last season in our 4-3 defeat against Hull
Jack Marriott 5ft 8ins lone striker? Jordan Rhodes could be another Gary Hooper and how long did he last? Not sure Oliveria will want another season with NCFC and do we want another season with Oliveria? When does the transfer window close: is it end of July this time round?
Leitner is a versatile player who can play as a deep playmaker in CM, as a number 10, or WR like Pritchard. He is also a free-kick specialist. To go into next season with two 23 year old strikers would be risky to say the least. One or both could come good, but if they don't we could struggle big time with both Maddison and Murphy's goals gone now. Holt scored 24 goals in League One, but that dropped to 16 in the Championship. Marriott could turn out to be great or a shadow of his former self in this league. If the latter, we could end up in a relegation battle. I'm not a huge fan of Rhodes, but I think we could need his experience.
Now Marriott, there's one to get excited about. I think we need to push the boat out, give them £4m + 0.5m for appearances, 0.5m for 15+ goals and another 1.0m for promotion (Hahaha, they'll never see that!.........oh arse) Give him top end of our wage structure and see how he goes. I'd rather have Marriott than Rhodes, but if we can offload Oliviera then both might be a good option. Bah!
Who was the other 'top gun' we were all set to sign from Posh until Dion opened his mouth on TV that turned out to be a bit of a flop??? I'm not convinced re Rhodes.
Happy with signing Leitner, I think he demonstrated enough flashes of class to show promise. Would be very excited if we managed to get Harry Wilson. He is total class. Not bothered about Rhodes, wanted him a few seasons ago, but has faded since, and don’t see how he’d work in our “system”. Marriott would be a great signing, but don’t think we have deep enough pockets.
