Bad news that. I'd sign Armstrong from Utd in that case, he's the natural successor to Brown in the Scotland team.

I'd sign him even if Broon was not injured, he should be our No1 target.

Aye, I'd agree with that actually. Too much dross in the midfield at the minute though, why the **** is Kayal still there?

I'd also have a look at Cifci (whatever) at Utd.

May for £800k is a bargain. Can't believe Celtic aren't interested in him.

I think we're dealing with a case of "won't" rather than can't Dev.

It's a ****e situation but the reality of supporting Celtic these days.

Yep. We are also rans when it comes to Europe, with the money sloshing about now I don't realistically see us doing anything like Seville again in my lifetime. I accept it though because i'm a pragmatist and a realist. Now we know how the Diddy Scottish clubs feel having to watch their clubs being plundered for buttons. The best players siphoned off and wasted away in the reserves, not being able to come anywhere near matching wages we are offering.

I suppose in our defence our club became a European force through previous success, I think what hurts is watching Teams like Paris Saint Germain - who have done **** all in Europe ever - spending vast amounts of money, contrary to the so called Financial Fair Play rules.

He wont be back for months I reckon, fortunately we have adequate cover in the sky the ball ten feet over the bar when it seemed easier to score department.

There is a section of our support who will never take the time to consider this. They'll always be in the false belief that we are entitled to be competitive at the big table of Europe.

Seville was a great run but we never won the trophy and O'Neill's wild spending lumbered us with a pile of debt that we've spent 11 years now trying to get rid of.

The only sensible option isn't "moneyball" pish but we must look to and focus on Lennoxtown. Developing our own players is the only viable model going forward.

Unfortunately we are cluttered up with ****e like stokes, griffiths, balde etc to make it difficult to take someone like May ( someone we should have been interested in before any of the aforementioned fuds ). Deila has not only his own job to do but also the task of clearing out a lot of deadwood that Lennon signed.

Problem is the minute a scottish player coming through even with us now , money will speak and he'll be off to the championship or epl . We will be left with the Joe average ones.

    This <ok>

This season was always a bit of a write off for Deila. The number 1 priority surely should be to trim the squad and look at the youth teams before we sign players.

Following that we should look to Scottish football for a suitable player before looking elsewhere in the world. It's just practicable if nothing else.

We agree. Youth development is the key, and Ajax are the model I believe, they churn players out at an amazing rate, sell them on and replace them. They scour the globe on their hunt, they may not have won anything in Europe for a long time but they are a decent side and they have their finances in order. That's the best we can hope for in the forseeable future.

    Pretty much.

Lennon sold us a dummy. Chasing pointless records and the like instead of blooding youth.

Deila needs patience and time, which he's unlikely to get from people who wanted a "Sellick man", in order to restructure the club.

The much mooted scouting system is dying on its arse with only Van Dijk looking geuinely promising in the last 24 months. Deila has a proven record of developing youth but it doesn't happen overnight.

That's his mandate, in my opinion, to develop youth. It's not to get pumped 5 games out of 6 in the CL group stage.

We still shouldn't be getting beat 6-1 of legia warsaw. We might not be competitive in the champions league but we can't accept not being there.

    Why not?

Long-term stability is more important than getting to the CL this year. CL money is a bandage, not a solution.

I want Celtic to play in the CL but only for the money, we'll get rimmed in most games but we are rebuilding and as Venom says that'll take time.
