SUNDERLAND boss Gus Poyet is ready to launch a bid to lure Celtic centre half Virgil van Dijk to the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats chief had the big Dutchman watched during the Parkhead club’s Champions League qualifier against KR Reykjavik on Tuesday.

Van Dijk scored twice in Celtic’s 4-0 win but it is his defensive qualities that Poyet, who will probably have to offer £10million to land his man, is most interested in.

The 23-year-old 6ft 4ins defender has been watched by several clubs in England but with no move having been made, Sunderland are leading the chase.

If Forster were to go to Southampton then it seems Borucs days there are numbered. Anyone have him back? Not ideal but decent keeper who has done well since he left. Would prefer a younger keeper but would have no issues slotting back into the cl (if we get there)

And som people may not like it if he came back

    I'd have Boruc back ...

He looked really good last season.

And yes... not one bit would it be liked!

I reckon we'll sell Forster, Gordon will be No.1 and we have a couple of decent back ups in Fasan and Zaluska.

If I had confidence Gordon can stay fit all season long I'd have that. But I think he needs a season to prove he can play game after game. My fear would be it would be effectively zaluska as number one. And he isn't good enough

I genuinely hope not. I would get rid of stokes and balde before him. I think he deserves a chance. he needs a wee bit of an attitude replacement though.

£1.2m is pretty good business though. I just hope it doesn't come back to haunt us if he goes on to become a decent player and end up in the EPL for £12m or something daft like that (although, knowing Lawwell, we'll have included a sell on clause as part of the deal).

Aye we'll sign the "Assyrian Messi" from Sparta Rotterdam's youth team on a free and then he'll never kick a ball for us before signing for East Fife after a release. <ok>

Some of the nutters out there are blaming Honest Pete for signing Gordon (As if it's a bad thing) and selling Watt. <laugh>

I know we are a selling club but we are going to have no one left at this rate.

We're doing the usual - waiting to see if we'll qualify for the CL then make a rush of last minute signings on deadline day.

We've got too many average strikers ...

Get Balde and the Fridj out on loan as well!

    I don't blame them ...

Celtic need no-one to win the league.

More failed strikers than a miners rally FFS. We had 6 on the bench for a friendly recently.

And all of them ****e/unproven/both. Get rid of them all and buy 3 decent ones.

I'm disappointed watt is going as is rather he had a chance ahead of say Griffiths, but he's gone backwards as opposed to progressing. A move might be best for both
