Must admit I agree with alot of what NL says there, he is abit more of a complete striker than what we have. Stronger and mpre purpose than Stokes and can strike a ball from range which is something I've not seen a Celtic striker do in 10 years if ypu discount it bouncing twice on way. It is possible he can mature and learn as a footballer, hope we give Watt the same opportunity. Will he get games if he comes? Will he have chance to settle? Will we change system so its not all about Commons twatting it everytime he gets the ball??
Lennon talks a load of ****e. Griffiths wasn't good enough for Lennon 8 months ago. Now he's the answer to our striking problems? I admire your positivity and I'm sure I'll get to the same place in a few days, but right now I'm pissed off. Lawwell doing his best to rid the stadium of violent racist thieving nutters yet now wants to spend a million quid on one. Shower of ****e. Sending a naughty bhoy to Beelgium and then inviting a different one into the dressing room. **** sake. We look like ****s moaning when we are a thousand points clear at the top but being honest, we aren't measuring ourselves domestically any more. In Europe this ain't good enough. Nor near close to being good enough.
I am slightly positive as I do think he is a good player, however, I too feel let down. Lennon shouldn't have took the bait about how we don't spend money by bragging that we could spend £6m on a player.....built the expectation level up. If we do have £4-6m to get a striker and one isn't available now why not wait till the summer? Give the scouts a few extra months to look at more targets or whatever. Its not like Griffiths is gonna need 6 months to settle ffs! 4 first team strikers plus the young lads on loan means **** all in the summer too. I fully expect Watt to be sold mind, nobody will want Stokes as he has hardly scored and Pukki and Balde have hardly had games to be judged on. Seems its all about agreeing the fee and he is ours. Hope we can use the rest of our cash to get a Gauld type player, someone who wil really give us a lift and send a statement out that we are building for now and the future.
Griffiths ? That is ****ing desperate .. and utterly pointless. We dont need him now for anything and he is not going to make us any more competitive in europe. ****ing shambolic short-term nonsense.
... and this whole "going through the season unbeaten" pish ; what is the ****ing point of that ? Seems to me like a pathetic attempt to have a swipe at the huns to appease the dimwits in our support at the price of squandering a great opportunity to bring on youth/fringe/newer players. Isnt that our supposed model of operation these days ? Lennon must go.
Rumour is that we low balled Wolves. For what reason... Who knows. Tempt them to get thumb Heid off the bukes? to bluff another target? To bluff me and you? All of the above?
Whilst I can understand people's dislike of Griffiths, there is no doubt (to me, at least) that he is a cracking wee player. He's better than Stokes for a start. Granted, he is playing in League 1 but he's scored 13 goals this season, which isn't a bad return. He's already scored plenty in the SPFL and is still only 23. It's obviously a risk but it's one we should take, especially given that he's cheap - I only say that because it's clear that's the route of player purchase the club is taking: if they're cheap, have proven they can do it, then why not buy them, and even if he brings baggage with him - which he will - it's still worth a punt. I'm definitely in agreement about players like Kayal and Forrest though. They've had plenty of time to show their worth. It's like they've both regressed as players from when they first appeared: Kayal went from someone who mixed it up, won the ball and was a solid DM, to mince (can never forgive him ducking out the way of the ball against Athletico Madrid - he was ****ing captain that night), and Forrest, for all Lennon's praise, has no end product. He can't cross and his entire game is cutting outside to the byline.
This Watt treated like a pariah for "attitude problems". Griffiths was arrested 3 times in 2013 for assault, racism and theft.
Would rather we went for Gauld of Dundee United and Stevie May of Inverness. Both have more potential than Griffiths to go somewhere. Or we could wait and see how they develop in a year or two. maybe let them move to England and see how they do, then buy them for 3 times as much as we could have now or not be able to afford them at all like Stephen Fletcher and James McCarthy
This is utter pish, don't want the wee dick at Celtic. Sick of listening to Lennon espouse the party line like a good little puppet. Disillusioned by the lack of ambition and guts from the club. If Griffiths is the answer to the striking/creative problems in the first-team then the question must be "How can we do it on the cheap and alienate a section of the fan-base while doing it?"
It's a case of spending money for the sake of spending money. I think most of us would rather not bother spending it if we can't get our top targets, I assume Balde is a write off now.
This I don't see anyone on here clamouring for a £6m striker/midfielder. Most fans on here are realistic. I do see a majority who either think Griffiths is a panic buy/not good enough/a wee dick (or all three) and that Celtic would be better keeping the chequebook away this time round.
Exactly. Why spend £1m now on him when we most likely will have to write it off like Bangura and Balde. Keep the £1m and add it to the summer budget If we hadnt bought either of those ****s, considering fees and wages we probably could blow £4-5 million on someone actually half decent. Instead we will spend £1m now and another £1m on wages...then have to spend that again on someone when it doesnt work out....and so on and so on
I still think they missed a marketing trick by not signing ex Man U trainee Mads Timm. Although I think he did end up in the jail...then again so will Griffiths
