Typical transfer window for us, linked with quality and end up with the dreggs. Griffiths is to fond of his night outs we should stay away from him.
It would indeed make sense to bring watt back but by all accounts Lenin thinks he is a bit of a twat and has no time for him. For me he would be playing every week and if he is not good enough get rid Williams maw likes to put it about a bit. I know another guy who did some old school fingering in the back of a cab with her. Without wanting to stereotype she is your typical Welsh bird!
Maybe we should sign this guy? He looks like a vaguely familiar Mujahideen Rebel. http://twitter.com/JamsyM7/status/426404954719666177/photo/1
Part of me thinks we should have brought Watt and McGregor back and gave them along with McGeough and Fraizer is it a chance now the league is done. But then again Lennon probably wouldnt pick them so probably best they are on loan so they get games at least. Lennon has given a chance to the kid at right back (his name completely eludes me) so dunno why he wont give others a chance. I understand he may wanna keep the run going. But the only way he will ever know if the kids (and Balde,Pukki, boerigter et al) are good enough is if they play
Darnell Fisher. I presume he's only getting a game because Lustig & Matthews are injured. I'm no worried one jot about going unbeaten in the league. I want to see the club develop youth players into first-team players. Simple as that. Get the boys on now Lennon. 15 points clear with 2 in hand FFS.
At least try one or two every game. Thowing 3 or 4 in together may not work and may harm them. But one or two, maybe even for just half an hour would help develop them. Playing with 9 or 10 first team regulars is going to boost their confidence and surely bring out the best in them. I dont see how he cant do that and keep the run going. And as you say the run aint actually all that important. The only way we'll ever have a top player play for us is to uncover them ala Wanyama or develop them. Pointless spending £1m on someone like Griffiths. If we sign him he will do ok in the SPL but wont ever be worth more or improve on what he already is. Spend some time with someone like Watt (and get a striking coach in - Larsson has no job at the moment) and who knows he could go on to earn a mega bucks move for the club in the future. There is more chance he could be sold for £5m+ in 2 years than Griffiths
I agree with most of that. Sick of us signing 4 or 5 players in the hope one of them is a Wanyama. The players going to the World Cup and most likely staying with us should be given at least 1 out of every 3 games off between now and May. Mainly Ambrose & Izaguirre. I'd rest Commons as well if he wasn't our only consistent attacking threat Although I think Larsson is the new Falkenberg manager so we've no hope there.
The ones going to the world cup are not going to get much of a summer break before the qualifiers so they should be given some time before the end of the season. Also some of the ones not going will have had a very long season. I guess they are just back from a short break and maybe later in the season we will look to give players a decent rest period.
I don't think anyone would have a problem if Lennon didn't come out every 2nd game to tell us how tired the team is. Then still pick the same 15 players for the match squad week-in/week-out. I just can't get excited about going unbeaten in a dead rubber of a league and would like to see the youth players get a run-out more often. Usually they bust a gut because they are desperate to impress.
Can't argue with that, I think we have a buying addiction. Our biggest problem is bridging the gap for youth football to first team, I think we exaggerate it and that makes us too scared to play the youth.
This I'd rather see us buy 1 or 2 really good players and supplement them with talent from the youth teams than buy 6 players, half of whom do nothing but take up space. The only saving grace of the league being over before it's begun is that every other team in the SPFL, or whatever the **** it is called, have numerous young Scottish players on the pitch every week. Celtic know the league is there for the taking, why not use these years to blood the best of our youth system?
@OfficialWolves: Kenny has confirmed that Celtic have made a bid for Leigh Griffiths which has been rejected. Striker remains in squad for Oldham game.
That's why we're trying to sign him obviously. Stokes has been magic since we gave him a new 3 year deal....
My concern here is that Celtic under Lennon is now starting to mirror Celtic under O'Neil and Strachan Initially all given a decent amount to spend initially. O'Neill got Lennon, Sutton, Hatson etc, Strachan got Naka, Jvoh, Jarosik, Graveson, Zurawski etc. But as the years went on they were told to make do with ****e to comlement what they had in place. Lennon initially had a few quid to spend on the likes of Hooper etc (no where near what the others had- but a decent initial outlay) Lennons been linked with a few clubs - maybe the board wont give him money to buy quality in fear he will go and someone new wants some outlay?
Aye, Groundhog Day. If Lennon leaves, he leaves and good luck to him. Last thing the next guy needs is having to rebuild the squad.
