Rodney what I am going on is the old Ollie. He may have changed and developed as a manager but I have been listening to him on Sky as a pundit and I am not convinced. Seriously I hope I am wrong. He never really liked luxury players. If Chery don't put a shift in he will be out although I believe we will now lose him and Luongo anyway.
I don't see why people think Chery should move on or why Ollie wouldn't like him. The unfortunate thing for Chery is that JFH has been playing him in the wrong position/with the wrong instructions almost all season. With a proper role in the team, he'd be an asset. With that said, Chery needs to fight for his place and not be given it.
Chery's mostly been used as a 10. I thought that was his best position? I know he has been used wide a bit recently but not much.
Ollie's got a bit more experience under his belt since the last time, he's a bit older and wiser, and so he'll also be able to command more respect, the boys will listen to him, his passion for our club is second to none. He'll do a damned good job, I reckon, and we'll be proud of him. He knows what we all want, what we demand - if one thing isn't working, he'll know to change it - especially our formations and putting the right man in the right place. I don't think we have too many egos in our squad, not so big as some of the Mercs we had in the past, I think we've got a decent group of lads who genuinely want to play and play well. May be get a couple of big strikers in who can handle the ball well and knock them down. We need scorers, and good ones. And get rid of the flower that is Caulker I have hope.
As far as I know he has been employed in 4 positions: wide right, wide left, number 10 role and 2nd striker. He has mostly played the number 10 role but, for me, was not managed well and was given the wrong instructions. Essentially, he was asked to do what Taarabt was asked to do, to play free of position. The problem with Chery is he doesn't have the ability. Chery should have had more direction and more limited and explicit tasks, whilst (albeit loosely but rigidly compared to Taarabt) holding a position.
Can't see there'll be much money available while we still have the FFP arbitration outstanding. God knows where we are with that. It hangs over us like the gallows.
