The Dembele one looks like a tricky situation as we can't go out in this window and reinvest the money to get a new striker in, but the way I see it is that we already have his replacement at the club in Cauley Woodrow. Cauley has shown he's more than capable of stepping up and scoring goals, when actually given a chance!

If there's no chance of Dembele signing a new contract then why are we not cashing in? Will keeping him for the next 6 months really make a massive difference to our final league position, so much so it was worth knocking back bids in the region of £6m to let him leave for nothing? Or am I missing something else in this whole saga?

Back from Christmas hols so back into reading all reviews.
Not to upset about Husband, I am sure here are as good if not better
out there, its just a matter of identification.
Initially impressed with our managerial appointment ,object to keep us up this season
and build in the close season. Fingers crossed we can hang on to Dembele and Hyndman.
Mc C 12m, in my opinion a good deal.

Wondered where you'd been rosc. Hope you had an enjoyable break. Sorry therefore to start the New Year disagreeing with you - about Husband. Sure Jimmy has a few defensive flaws and his moments of red mist but he's terrific going forward - Bristol City being the best example. In my view certainly a stretch better than Ream at LB and arguably Garbutt, who apparently fancies himself as a wing half and not a fullback.

Gray did say a week ago we were interested, albeit before the arrival of Slavi, who may see other positions a priority given the embargo limitations. Indeed, dependent on Boro's position regarding a fee and/or wages, bringing him in may not even be feasible under embargo rules.

Guess the upside if he does go on loan to Huddersfield is that he should still be available for a permanent move in the summer.

To be honest I'd have said yes to him rather than Parker when there was a potential choice. Not to both however - possibly our worst pairing in midfield for many a day - and to bring him back, at 33 and little game time? Have my doubts.

Had forgotten he joined us in the January window first time around - Mark Hughes signed him five years ago today. Omen or Ominous?

We have have failed with an attempt to sign defender Paddy McNair on loan from Manchester United, according to The Times.

The Star are saying that the Captain's "favourite" manager Nigel Adkins up at Sheffield United is renewing his interest in Dan Burn.

Adkins had at least two goes in the summer and, the report alleges, he is doubly impressed with Dan getting regular first team games.

Bournemouth have signed Wolves striker Benik Afobe for an undisclosed fee, thought to be about £10m.

Well, that's good news for Tuesday night's game against Wolves and at the same time rules Bournemouth out of the sniffing around Ross McCormack.

Reports around that Man City have joined the "race" for Moussa Dembele.

And meanwhile, rumours around that we're interested in Bournemouth's 34yr old French striker Yann Kermorgant.

At his press conference earlier, Slavi said “Half the January window is done and we have not made steps. I expect next week we can make some important steps for us and bring some players who can help us in the future. We need players with character, with personality, with experience”.

And, with Woodrow out injured – possibly for the rest of the season – he is looking to bring in a striker on loan. Read what you will into that so far as keeping Dembele is concerned.

PS The stories doing the rounds currently, say that Spurs are “in talks” with the Club about Moussa

The tittle tattle is that the deal with Spurs could involve a player exchange on loan. The likely candidate being 22 yr old attacking midfielder Alex Pritchard. Think he's made one appearance for the Spurs first team as a sub in the league cup.

However, the stronger rumours are about another midfielder on loan (with an option to buy?) - Bolton's Mark Davies. Hits the 'experience' spot but the 27yr old has suffered injury problems recently and apparently a move to Sheffield Wednesday fell through earlier this week because he failed their medical.

"Davis" just about our mark always injured from a team worse than us
think Boltons best player lst year Spearman

Alex Pritchard is a great young player, England u21 and was Brentfords best player last season in my opinion, Brentford were desperate to resign him until he got a bad injury, if we can work him into any deal permantly then I would be happy.

Reported today that Boro have made an initial bid for Ross Mc of 8 mil
upping it to 9 and throwing in a a reserve player called Kite, if this was the case
I would think it would greatly upset the stability of players like Dembele.
But I would not be surprised to see both go, supporting the ever growing chant in the
riverside stand POUNDS BEFORE PREMOTION.

This is frustrating. we paid around £11m I think and he's a proven striker in this league to boot. Also, would£8m get us out of the sh*t with the FFP?

One non-surprise might be on it's way rosc. We are definitely 'courting' Spurs and have apparently given them a £6m figure for Moussa Dembele .. but would like him back on loan for the rest of the season whereas Spurs would prefer to bundle one of theirs into the deal. According to the ever loving Evening Standard anyway:

Could even be a trio of front men on their way out as the local paper say Bristol City want to take Matt Smith back.
