Wilson Palacios has been offered a escape from his Stoke City frustration with a move to the Middle East. Palacios, the Honduras international midfielder, has emerged as a target for Qatar SC and Stoke are ready to let him leave for a nominal fee. The £6 million signing from Tottenham Hotspur has one year remaining on his contract and Stoke are keen to offload him this summer. Cameron Jerome, Brek Shea and Ryan Shotton are also available as manager Mark Hughes attempts to trim his squad.
Thought Shotton had long gone. After his performances (and I use the word lightly) in the World Cup. I am surprised that anybody would want Palacios...thought that we would have a problem giving him away.
STOKE City's annual financial losses have been slashed from more than £31m to under £5m, new figures reveal today. The huge drop reflects Stoke's more sober transfer expenditure and the vast increase in TV revenue for Premier League clubs. The new figures are contained in the latest accounts of Potteries-based gambling giant Bet 365, the majority owner of the football club. They show that Bet365 Group lost just under £5m from its investment in Stoke City Football Club up to May 2014. "Following the new Premier League broadcast deal and the introduction of Financial Fair Play rules, the group is committed to reducing the club's reliance on the group and, over the medium term, to make it self-sufficient." I think the wage bill has increased slightly from 59 million to 61 million (ish) but I suppose that is to be expected - finishing higher would likely have resulted in additional bonuses and players coming to the end of their contracts will probably have ramped contracts. It will be interesting to see what we off load and if that negates and future rises?
Well the grapevine told me that (The squad) as we knew it, will look a lot different to last season Smithers. As reported in the Sentinel, a few like Crouch n co will be elsewhere come August. To be expected we just can not afford the wages, and let half decent players sit on the bench! Aka Man City ect.
I see (and this could be lazy Journals) we are looking at Nathan Redmand from Norwich. Thoughts? I would prefer we spend 7 million on Assaidi.
Me too Potts. Don't know why all the speculation about other players. Maybe it is a 'personality' clash with Hughes...dunno. But as said before, THAT goal against Chelsea was worth his transfer fee. Sign him up for gawd's sake. The Diouf & Taxidermist Brazilian CB story seems to have dried up!! Just sign Caulker and be done with it.
@DeadlineDayLive: Crystal Palace have had an £8m bid accepted for Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurðsson. (Source: http://t.co/zmliAtVQ1b) Wow!
Loud n Proud saying we have signed on load Bojan Klinic spelling? tbh I've not heard too much about him. Apparently he played in the German League and was pretty useful all round player!
Johan deal is off, & Riverie is going to Newcastle Utd. I think I'll keep quiet until a player is wearing s Stoke shirt from now on. -
Bojan Krkic sorry 97 last time I looked, he's yet to give the club a yes or no originally yesterday? Fingers crossed he say yes!
Ah ok! But yeah looks like Muniesa is the main reason why they're coming here. I heard that we might have attracted Sergi Roberto as well due to him (a good young midfielder from you guessed it, Barcelona)
Barcelona cast off's - pfft no thank you. Look how far we have come?? What about Diouf & the Brazilian CB ???
