I think we will keep him till the end of the Season. We have effectively put him in the shop window. The Club do not have to sell him now as they have exercised the option for another Season.

Every player at every club is available for the right price.

Our chronic problem in recent years has been buying the wrong players for ludicrous prices (Schwartz, Kirk, Lavelle, Aneke etc) and allowing our rare decent signings to leave for free.

It goes without saying that every player at every Club is available for the right price. The problem we have with Thierry is that he is holding fire on signing a new contract with us. What do we do with him? Do we sell him now for more money or do we wait until the end of the Season, when he is out of contract and get a compensation fee? I would personally say to him stay with us for the Season, thus putting yourself further into the shop window.Other people might take a different viewpoint.

Spot on.
Even under Dushitelet we have spent money but wasted it badly.
Teixeira given a 4.5 years contract on 12k a week springs to mind<doh> should the reports have been correct.

He employed Scott. He is the mouthpiece to the richer owners. It’s his job to reduce losses by £8-9M per year for those richer owners. There’s only so many ways to do that and making profit on player trading is something he can control.
As I understand it Methven was the "Brains" behind putting together the Ownership consortium, and employing his mates Rodwell Scott and Holden to supply the football "expertise" and management. I don't know exactly what the setup is now, but the appointment of NJ on a 4.5 year deal, with control over recruitment shows that something has changed in the balance of power and decision-making.

No. Jones has the final say on all incomings and outgoings, according A.Scott last week.

Do you not seriously question the source of that alleged set up ?

And even if you don’t then please understand what it actually means. Jones 100% DOES NOT choose a player that he wants and then just goes out and buys him. That is simply not how it works.

Jones and his staff recommend players that they’d like.

They then go to Scott who looks at the costs in terms of transfer fees and contract wages.

Knowing what is affordable within a budget that has to reduce annual losses by £8-9M, Scott then gives Jones and his staff any options that fit those parameters.

Jones and his staff then have the final say from those players that fit into those parameters.

That is not Jones having control over recruitment.

Semantics. Curbs explained it more or less as you say, but we don't know if the 8-9m is still set in stone. Or are you ITK? Every manager has to work within a budget; Curbs, Lennie and SCP all did, but brought in the players that they wanted. Jones will have to decide which positions are highest priority, and they will be his players, not a pile of sh1t chosen by Scott.

I’m only ITK because I’ve listened to what Charlie has said over and over again. He hasn’t even lied about this, he’s been perfectly open. This is the strategy that we and NJ are working under.

In terms of who the power brokers at the club now are :

1. The investors
2. Nathan Jones

Methen is a PR front man with little/ no say , and Scott has well & truly had his wings clipped and just does what he’s told. I believe he’s only still in post to save face, and to keep Stadler & Waldorf on ITTV happy in their belief that “we are on a journey “.

Scott is doing Jones’ bidding. Nathan is now running the show.

How recently?
Well as recently as 23rd April during Charlie’s interview on the OS.

There was no mention at all of any change to the strategy of reducing the losses down to zero. No talk of spending more on players. It was all still about better coaching, better fitness levels, better structures behind the scenes, long term sustainability, how successful clubs don’t have major overhauls in the summer etc.

And more talk about the financial constraints on clubs through the fair play rules and how we need more supporters to buy tickets so that we have more revenue to spend.

The financial restraints were very well documented from early on in GFP’s ownership and there has been NOTHING since to say that it has changed.

So can I turn the question around and ask why we should believe that it has changed ? Is there any evidence of that ?

Not yet, but I live in hope. We should find out soon enough.

Are you on a wind up ?

There is absolutely no evidence for any of that whatsoever.

Methven is a PR man with little or no say ? Really ? I suggest you listen to his interview on 23rd April on the OS again. Or have a look at some of the highlights in my answer to Mr Penguin above if you don’t fancy listening to the full 28 minutes of bluster. Or check out his positions in GFP and SE7 partners.

And Scott has had his wings clipped and just does what he’s told ?

Again, really ? Where’s the evidence of that ? Have a read of his interview in the SLP from just six days ago. Nathan Jones is not calling the shots. He suggests players, Scott comes up with alternatives, which are no doubt cheaper. Scott then assess’s which ones best fit into the budget and then gives Jones the final choice of which of the cheaper players he can have. Hardly Scott being sidelined and Jones calling the shots is it ?

Or do you have some knowledge which no one else has that Scott was lying during the interview and that Jones can just pick whoever he wants regardless of staying within the SCMP rules ?

The plethora of recent cheap signings certainly don’t suggest that, but if you do have some inside knowledge or evidence that it’s true then I’d love to hear it.

Great scenes at Elland Road last night. A proper English football club, with proper , passionate red blooded fans. We could do with so many more of their type supporting us.
At full time last night take a look at the scenes - can you imagine any of those lads poring over Xg or posting “we are on a journey”.

Must say, my heart wants @A WUM called Hawtrey to be right, but my head hasn't seen any evidence of NJ really calling the shots yet, so I must remain as sceptical as you @Ubedizzy2 - until the facts might begin to contradict us.

Well the door remains open for @WUM to show us some evidence to support his alleged views and to contradict everything I said…
