I doubt if it was because of Cotts or Pembo.
It was because we were fresh in that league at that time - struggling - and had not consolidated ourselves as a solid Championship side. We were tipped by all the pundits and so-called ‘experts’ to go straight back to L1 where we ‘belonged’.
The footballing world saw us as a 3rd tier side at best.
At least now, thanks to the efforts of several different managers and players we have become a solid Championship outfit with a much better profile than we did back then.

unless theres a little bit of cash in it for us, i really dont care what he does, i do think he will be just a bog standard midfielder in the premiership though,

In a stable side with the right guidance he could be a cut above most!

He didn’t really push on as I’d hoped, when he joined I was hoping for a progression much like Scott has achieved, it didn’t happen. Personally I think he’d be more suited to foreign football rather than British, but what do I know

Agreed, he plainly doesn’t want to stay, so as long as someone takes him on and we get compensation I’m not too bothered where he goes. I hope wherever he goes he’s successful for his sake, but for City’s perspective he’s not worked out anywhere near as successful as we’d hoped,

Back at the end of March, Massengo admitted he hadn’t been thinking about his long-term future but discussed his time at Bristol City.
“For the moment, we haven’t really talked about it,” he said to French media.
But I am not going to lie. It’s in the back of my mind because it’s my future. It is important. But for the time being, it is not really the priority. There are a lot of upcoming deadlines, that is what’s important: performing and delivering results.”
He had been offered a contract in January 2022, but talks between the club and his representatives reached an impasse, and despite seemingly saying his goodbyes at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, no team made a reasonable offer for him.
“I was in a complicated situation at Bristol City,” he admitted.
“The club offered me a contract extension but we couldn’t agree. As I was going to be free at the end of the season, Bristol put me aside from October.

I wonder what it was they couldnt agree? money /contract length/ bonuses for country / get out clause??? no mention of being homesick .. or didnt like Bristol or Family

We won’t overspend & we’ll only bring players that want to be here, and fit our requirements, if he fulfils these criteria he’ll come, if he doesn’t he won’t.

Good business getting him gone? What was good about running his contract and letting him go for free.
Good business would have been selling him.

Jay Dasilva a honest player, served his contract to the full, skillful and hardworking, quiet and respected our football club, he was offered a wage and accepted it, I wish him well and all the best for the future, we all move on.

But we never done any business to get him off the books. His contract ran down. There was no business deals done there.
I know you love Nige, but surely you can see that nothing has been done so how can it be “good” business.
