So the PL have finally got their backsides into gear. Transfer Window to close before the season starts. It can only be a good thing. Two weeks less misery. Six clubs, voted against it, NUFC abstained, on the grounds, that we don't engage in such activities during the month of August in any case.
They've left themselves wide open as it still allows foreign teams to buy UK based players for at least 2 weeks after.... It's the equivalent of someone putting their own hand cuffs on. Do we actually know who abstained yet? It's got Penfold written all over it tbf. The ****.
Absolutely the right decision. I hope Mike remembers that our window is already closed though if we are ever in a position to have players that are being chased once our window closes. Could be the perfect scenario for him with the price being too good to turn down and no possibility of being allowed to replace.
It shouldn't make a big difference in terms of putting English clubs at a disadvantage. European clubs will know that (most) clubs won't sell if they can't replace, and so they will need to tie up deals sooner.
Itali Other countries have a chance in following the PL lead. Juventus have already indicated thats how they want to go.
They can still unsettle players though. I think shutting the window for buying before the season starts is better than nothing, but really the window should just be over outside the season, end of story.
The clubs that voted against change included both Manchester clubs. Now there's a surprise - or not....
Disagree. We are vulnerable big time. If say Barca come knocking for Haidara and offer £100m.... we'll sell.. as will most clubs. money talks. Clubs will then be left without their star players.
Have it on good authority that Haidara is a Real Madrid man all the way. Failing that he may if the money is right go to Bayern or Juve.
