I have just read this on another forum, all credit to Citizen_Blue.

Thought it might be an idea to summarise on one thread the changes we have made to our squad. I have made some assumptions on the fees/wages so might be miles off.

    Incoming

Scott Sinclair £6.2m fee £40k wages

    Richard Wright free £5k wages

    Jack Rodwell £12m £40k wages

    Maicon £3m £80k wages

    Javi Garcia £16m £80k wages

    Matija Nastasic £12m £20k wages

    Total fees £49.2m £265k wages

    Outgoing

    Stefan Savic free £20k wages

Nigel De Jong £10m £80k wages

    Emmanuel Adebayor £5m £160k wages

Roque Santa Cruz £500k £30k wages

    Adam Johnson £12m £60k wages

    Dedryk Boyata free £10k wages

    Vladimir Weiss £1.2m £20k wages

    Juan Roman £800k £2k wages

    Owen Hargreaves released £5k wages

    David Pizzaro released £40k

    Transfers £29.5m wages £427k

That means we have roughly spent £20m net in the transfer window but saved roughly £160k per week in wages (£8.3m per year)

What you fail to state is you have brought five crap
players who will not improve your average team one bit, desperate bitters are falling apart.

I wil ignore the CHMPIONS bit and go on to say only just with the last kick of the season on goal difference, this was a once in a lifetime ending to a season. This time you will have to do it on points against more than one team. Most teams have strengthened this window and will expect to play better than last year (where the media seemed to think you had an all conquering team) and so you will have to be better too if you want to compete.

He has a point, teams that don't strengthen in the summer tend to struggle to do as well the following season.

That said, Javi Garcia should be a good signing so you'll just have to see how it goes.

Yeh because the best thing to do when you are champions is stay the same or even better go backwards.
