I would be more open to loaning him to Atletico in exchange for first option on Diego Costa.
 
oh and add to the fact he didn't train today, it's all looking a bit too likely for me.
 
Agreed, looks like there may be some haggling over a few million and then it'll get done. Shocked and disappointed but we move on. Surely we have to get someone else in now though. 4 players into 3 positions and currently only 2 fit strikers is asking for trouble. Especially as we have some quality players out on year long loans we can't now recall.

Any ideas who we could target this window if that is indeed the plan? Di Maria? He's struggling at Madrid and Jose knows him well.

Exactly. Moses never let us down and only went out on loan once Willian came in. Also means someone like that could play say FA cup games and rest Hazard or Oscar etc.

Actually quite shocked at how light this could leave us for the run in with KDB gone as well. I know we got Matic but essentially we lost Van Ginkel for the whole season so we were already a midfielder down.

At this rate I'll probably have to get the boots out....

If nobody is replaced (be it a loan, or signing) for the run in, I think this will be up there with the worst decisions ever made by the club - along with sacking Jose/appointing Grant and then sacking Carlo!!
 
Another with Mata signing for them is he's cup tied. Can't play in the League Cup or the Champions League. FA Cup either actually, but we know how that turned out....so 17 league games left.

On a serious note though we could do with Moses or Piazon, even Marin! I'm guessing Jose has a plan and is prepared if Mata does leave.

Agreed. Even if someone else is in mind, chances are he'll be cup tied and cost more than we'd get him for in the summer - thus negating anything extra we squeeze out the mancs.

There are times when I think the club owes the fans an explanation, this may well be one of those times.

As above Gaz, all three are on season long loans like Lukaku. Truth is we could do with recalling 2 of the 4 but probably cant.

We've also let Bertrand, our only actual left footed full back aside from Ash go out on loan too. If this was Rafa we'd be spitting blood at how we are weakening the squad this much.

Also being linked in the papers with Barkley and Griezmann, both good players with plenty of years ahead. Stalag at 10m would be brilliant, especially under Liverpools noses
