People see Hazard leaving? I can't see him budging unless Chelsea had an equally world class replacement coming in (A Sanchez or Di Maria). Maybe next season PSG will get Hazard but not yet! Anyway! Just wanted to pop by and ask whether people thought the pressure was on Mourinho this season? I write a quick article highlighting some key areas to consider... Chelsea FC - The Pressure's On
It's a competitive league and C.L so whilst the pressure is there, he can't be expected to win them. Minimum with be challenging strongly for both.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/andersonantunes/2014/07/08/for-brazils-david-luiz-the-world-cup-is-already-won/ According to Forbes writer, David Luiz won the world cup already. What did we win then?
Just a quick congratulations for selling that clown Luiz for so much money. Makes up for paying so much for Torres. (Doesn't make up for playing Torres in so many games though.)
Seems like the Filipe deal is getting closer by the day so should be complete pretty soon. How do people feel about this one? I think 20M is a lot to pay for somebody in their late 20's and who hasn't played in this league before. I know he had a wonderful season with Atletico but if it takes him time to settle here it won't be long before he's 30 so hopefully he starts well. I just thought there was better options out there, or maybe we already had them and we could've saved the 20 odd million we'd be spending.
Agreed it seems a lot. If he was 3-4 years younger than great but seems quite high for a late 20's full back, especially as Dave was so good in that position last year. How many top class left backs are there out there though and available??
Blind, Rojo, Rodriguez would all be cheaper and more value for playing years. Filipe is 29 in August, not ideal for us really as we need a mid 20s full back to give us longevity.
I wouldn't be keen on Blind. He's had a good world cup but over season i don't think he'd be good enough for us. Rodriguez i like but i don't think he's that great defensively and for me Full Backs defend first and attack second! I think he'd maybe have been a similar price though and with plenty of time to improve. But yeah not many available, that's why i'd have kept Cole for another season and then next summer somebody might have become available. Good job i'm not manager
Kroos has confirmed he's off to Madrid. They should walk La Liga next year. But apparently we've signed the next A Velencia, not sure I'd what the original one let alone the 'next' one!! http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ws-chelsea-land-ecuador-starlet-josi-quintero Probably just another player to loan out and sell on.....
Been linked with plenty over the weekend. Drogba may be coming back for a back-up striker/coach role. Adrien Rabiot may be a cut-price alternative to Paul Pogba with a fee of £7M being reported. Looks like we have finally nabbed Filipe Luis for a fee of £16M. Sami Khedira could be the next big name midfielder to come in as we try to hijack Arsenal's £24M move. Some reports stating a wage packet of 150K per week is making Arsenal stall. Finally a lot of talk that either Mehdi Benatia or Elaquim Mangala will be heading to the Bridge in a £30M move. I think despite only signing two players, I think we have barely flexed our muscles this summer.
Omeruo linked with loan moves to QPR and Hull in the last couple of days. Would be a good move for us, did well for Boro last season and had a very good World Cup. Just needs a chance.
that Atleti LB signing puzzles every one of us, especially for the price point. Even if that Filipe surpasses Azpi's performance - that price tag at his age will never be justified IMHO. Hope Jose knows what he is getting. And Ivan may actually get to play in CD - he is always head and shoulders above a certain Paris bound CD.
Fee now agreed with AM for Luis. If you can't beat them, buy them 3 of Madrid's starting 11 from the C.L semi final will be playing for us this season.
Bugger bugger bugger bugger. I'm not against Luis Filipe, I'm just pro Ryan Bertrand. No one will be perfect every game, every player has a weakness. Ryan knows the team, the boss, the system, and like anyone else can maintain a high standard when constantly playing at a high standard.
Jose's seen a lot more of him than any of us so I guess we have to assume he's not considered good enough. He's not a young man anymore and won't get much better than he already is. Appears Patrick V Aarnholt is also on his way. 1 year left on his deal and wants to move away this year. That could be 3 left backs lost in 1 summer!!
