Obviously one of the keepers is going out on loan.Kelly has not impressed, Lumley looks better to me, Dieng has not featured.
This new goalie is on a free and is cheap on wages. ...this is the "moneyball Game"

Surely we're not writing off Kelly already? :emoticon-0104-surpr

Furlongs departure neither surprises or disappoints me. I have never truly rated him beyond what the quoted fee is to be honest. He has youth on his side, which is a bonus. Unfortunately, this will be QPR for a long time. Anyone playing half decent will be sold if a half decent offer comes in. It's a bit of a catch 22 really. We want our players to perform well and to progress. We either spawn a 'Leicester' type season and all our worries could be over or we just potter from season to season, selling our better players, getting a few new ones and new loans (similar to what we've already seen) hoping that we have one of those magic seasons.

My main problem if Furlong is going, is that he has learnt what he does with QPR, and he is, or should be perhaps, QPR through and through. Don't think we have anyone else like that, we need a player or 2 that really belongs. I'd prefer to see him stay and made team Captain. Have to say though I've never been 100% convinced by his performances, but then he is still fairly young and athletic. A Chelsea loanee coming in to replace him won't have an easy life.

Why?

Back to Furlong someone has said on LfW that "Furlong could be a Premier CD, but is actually only a League1 RB".

That is about right in my opinion, he gets caught out too easily by the counterattack, he cannot defend well running back (which is why he should be a CD) but apparently he does not like playing CD and would therefore not fit into Warburtons plan. I suspect he needs a new start, because he has not really pushed on as he should have by now.

Rollercoaster Ranger has written an article saying how this will be the season when FFP hits hardest, due to a really big loss three seasons ago. Once that loss is off our books (at the end of this season...FFP runs in 3 year cycles) we will be a lot healthier. We are trying hard to balance the books
Fair enough re FFP, though that Roller bloke is notoriously fickle and unreliable.

No way is Furlong a PL quality CB. How do I know? Because if he was he’d be at a PL club. They have scouts. I like the idea of Furlong, and he is good in the air, but still think £1.5m is a good deal for him.

That’s it Bob. Which means it’s entirely dependent on having a coach who can make a team which is better than the sum of its parts. I hope Warburton can. Although I detest him Warnock can at this level, but obviously no higher. I suspect the corporate attitude will change if we are in with a sniff of promotion.

Unless this money is used to get a striker disappointed with this. I still think Furlong is developing as a player and the thought of Rangel being our only right back does not enthuse

Furlong isn't a PL quality CB right now, but given a run in that position he might become one. If he did he could be worth £15m.

If that's true then I am very surprised. I like the look of this kid. I predict a bright future but I must be wrong if he isn't as good as what we've got at the club now.

My pal is on the U17 scouting staff at the club, so doubt he's wrong. He's also surprised at Chair going out, but thinks there may be a clause that if he's fit he plays every game....
