just tagging this so i get updates, but just to add i know a rabid swans fan who told me that dyer wouldn't be that great of a signing unless he was dirt cheap

Yep, I'd be pretty underwhelmed with another cast off from a fellow PL team. At least Mulumbu was on a free and according to many is pretty decent although I haven't seen much of him personally

I'd hardly call a 27 year old who has played 130 odd top flight games and was on the verge of the England squad not so long ago just another "cast off" personally, sometimes players go stale at a particular club and need a change of scenery to get the best out of them again. He's a player I rate highly, he is technically superb and would be a great addition to our squad, as long as the price is right of course.

Swansea are now in the position we should have been in. They have Premier League quality all through their squad, so naturally they have players who could do a job for us, but don't make their first team.

Dyer for £5-8m would certainly strengthen our squad, although I'm not convinced it's an area we need it. If we sell Redmond for £20m then he'd be a reasonable replacement. Not seen anyone linked to Redmond seriously yet though.

Good, will no doubt waste a large part of their budget, he'll probably go AWOL, and they'll be around the relegation zone again.

And he's good in the air - just ask Seb !

So Citeh are free to break the bank after UEFA officially lifted Financial Fair Play restrictions on spending and are preparing to spend just short of £200M. on new players with Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba, Kevin de Bruyne and Fabian Delph on their shopping list. Absolutely crazy and I'm just glad NCFC doesn't have that sort of money to spend on players.

Why?

I want us to at least try and bring through 1 or 2 players as Southampton have done as opposed to just splashing wads of cash around and buying the best.

I personally really like Nathan Dyer. Have since he was at Southampton. His pace, directness and explosive energy would add to our squad nicely. Either from the start, or off the bench. Redmond one side, and Dyer the other would scare a few teams from pushing too far forward. If the price was right, I'd snap him up.
