Surely if that is the case, they could at least say that terms have been agreed with the player and that the official announcement will occur when his contract is finished.

I don't think we're allowed to.

The last time I remember a purchase being announced early was of course RvW, but that was different as he was coming from a different country. Other than that I'm pretty sure that for a few years you've not been allowed to announce until contract expires

Micha Richards contract expires at the end of June but it's already announced he will be joining villa. It may be that west brim specifically call it out in their contracts but there's nothing stopping them in general.
 
I thought that he'd been "released" from his contract with Albion ? If that was the case then there wouldn't be real harm in announcing where he is going to go when his "release" is final would there ?
 
I remember there being heavy speculation before Bradley Johnson joined but it not being officially announced until his contract had expired.

I doubt there's anything to worry about.

I remember that too and was gonna mention it until you'd beaten me to it.

Maybe there's a delay in announcing it because we're looking to unveil two or three new signings? Just a thought...
 
You're always seeing clubs announce that, 'so and so will join us on July 1 when their contract expires'. It's probably just because there are loose ends to tie up, that's all. These days we're always aware of a transfer a good week before it actually happens, just gotta be patient.

Love the optimism - just waiting for Messi and Ronaldo to decide on whereabouts down Newmarket Road they want to buy before they put pen to paper......

Still confident one of these at least will happen.

No need to apologies, easy mistake to make. I think it's only a matter of time before they sign anyway. I tend not to believe any news until it's tweeted from the official twitter account (the one with a blue tick in the profile).
 
My tongue-in-cheek post certainly wasn't looking for an apology from Monsieur Crabe.

I don't use/like social media, but accept there's a place for it, and I know CC uses it for information on things that interest him. I'm grateful to have someone who knows their way around said media who passes it on to dinosaurs like me. <ok>

There are bound to be a few bad apples in the twitter harvest.
