Apparently Bournemouth have tabled a £3.5m bud for Glenn Murray, partly because they fear Wilson is off elsewhere.

Wilson won't go for a small fee, so I'd have thought they'd have set their sights higher than Murray.

Supposedly he's (Wilson) is going to Villa. Who with £40m in from Benteke and Delph should have there sights set higher. I'm guessing they're not getting the money reinvested.

No sympathy. Sherwood should really have 'Lernerd' from the tight-fistedness endured by Martin O'Neil and Paul Lambert for many years before he got involved with the club.

Sherwood's blood and thunder without intelligence management style will be one of their biggest issues this season. He's great for the last 5 few games when all you need is a confidence boost and a but if passion but not a full season. He's like Di Canio.

They got Richards who's a great signing for them but it's looking like a team which barely stayed up last season could start this season with a weaker team.

Not so sure Richards will be that great a signing, I thought he was going to be awesome when be burst on the scene, but he's hardly played for the past few seasons. I think he's a gamble for them personally, I really expect Villa to struggle.

Vila are a team I'd dearly love to see relegated, but they always seem to hold on somehow.

That said, the likes of Benteke, Vlaar, Delph and Agbonlahor were the ones dragging them out of trouble. Of those, they've lost all bar Agbonlahor. Cleverley was a boost to their midfield and he's gone too. Of their new signings, Gueye in midfield is quite well regarded, but they've lost the core of a good team.

What remains of their squad from last season scored just 9 goals between them all season. Lambert's tenure doesn't aid that figure, but it still shows they need to find a goalscorer or two this summer.

Given Lerner seems to have all but given up on them I think this season could be painful for them. Doubt they'll get much sympathy either, I know I won't have any.

According to the Daily Fail, they want to offload Guzan for £3m too. If true, thats utterly mad.

I think you are doing Lerner a diservice. He spent alot of money on players for Villa and O'Neil. He has lost alot of his own cash.

As Delia said before "it's not enough to be a millionaire in football"

You need to be a multi billionaire these days and not mind losing **** loads.

Generally Lerner was good for villa a few years ago but his loss of interest has been dreadful for them.

I dont think "interest" is the correct term. He just decided he was chucking money away for little return.

Villa just found out they were not as big as they thought (as did Lerner). All Lerner has done is try and claw back some of the money O'neill wasted.
