    Just at a cursory glance:

    Binners
    Smith = 61.7% won

    'Boro
    Gibson = 55.9% won

    Brighton
    Greer = 64.3% won

    Brentford
    Dean = 69.7%

    Mixed bag there really.

    Yeah fair enough - I'm always a bit inclined to be suspicious of Bassong and you both could be right that he had no choice.

    But I still think that if Vossen's shot had gone in, questions would have been asked of whether Bassong's clearance should/could have been better.

    Obviously that's beside the point as it didn't and I perhaps didn't use the best example!

    That's very interesting - both Dean and Greer are monsters and considerably taller than Bassong or Berra, whereas Martin is actually a good inch shorter than even Ben Gibson and yet has a marginally better record. And this season I've thought quite highly of Gibson and, as he can double as a left-back, thought he might be a good target for us if we need a CB/LB as backup. Purely on paper you'd have to say that he might not be such a good option.

    In which case let's go for Mings. £3m and a pre-season friendly where they get to keep half the gate receipts should be enough for the Binners, right? If anything I'd say that's generous. And we would play some of our development players so they'd have a reasonable chance of winning for once.

    I'd prefer a CB who can also play LB rather than the other way around, but I think there must be better ones than Gibson.

    Far too generous Rob, even with a handful of youth players we should outclass them.

    I must admit I thought that was in when he hit it. I was behind the goal slightly to the right hand side as you look and boy did that swerve. I was awaiting for the net to bulge and the Boro fans to go wild. You could see that Ruddy was well beaten.

    Has this rumour been put on here yet?
    http://www.vi.nl/nieuws/gepromoveerd-norwich-aast-op-necvedette-jahanbakhsh.htm
    (from Dutch website 'Voetbal International')

    Alireza Jahanbakhsh is on the way to an exit from NEC. The attacker from Iran is experiencing serious interest from three foreign clubs, including the recently Premier League-returned Norwich City.
    Jahanbakhsh appeared with his country last year at the World Cup in Brazil, arrived in 2013 from SC Damash in his homeland. During his first season, the now 21-year-old attacker scored five goals Eredivisie.

    Yeah, this story has been around for a couple of days now. I think, from memory, Celtic are also interested.

    Bournemouth are moving quickly in the transfer market. Christian Atsu on loan from Chelsea, Josh King from Blackburn, Federici from Reading and Boruc from Southampton.

    Atsu had a dreadful season at Everton, so that one surprises me. Will be interesting to see how King progresses.

    Positionally he can be poor sometimes, especially on set pieces he has the tendency to lose the man his marking or ends up getting wrong sided. I would like to see us draft in a high quality centre back over the summer.

    I seem to remember Martin playing some blinders as central defender in Lambert's premiership year. I agree with people on here who say he may actually be better in some ways at Prem level because he reads the game so well and he isn't going to be up against endless hoofballs to a 6'4" monster very often, (which definitely does not bring out the best in him).

    Last PL season we spent well over £20m I think. I suspect we have about the same, though I should think they'll hold back a few million for January. So I'd say you're about right for the summer.

    We'll have £40m more revenue this season. So could well be pushed up to £30m if need be, remember the increased TV rights will see significant inflation too. The best deals will be from abroad.
