If we're going to play Top Trumps, I'm going to play the Gilberto card!

Gilberto... Jesus that brings back awful memories, at least Paulinho looked a half decent player on occasions (or at least I thought so), Gilberto was truly shocking. His debut in the EL was awful and I remember a shocking performance away at Pompey too. Only played about 6 or 7 for us I think, which was 5 too many.

Paul Price was pretty bloody shocking. I seem to remember we lost 4-0 at home to the Spammers. He was marking Cross who scored all 4.

He did take part in a 4-0 victory over West Ham though, scoring once himself.
They were on an appalling run at the time, losing the previous two games 4-0 to Liverpool and Chelsea.
Their fans started singing, "You're **** cos it's not 4-0", when it was only 2-0 with about an hour gone.
Gilberto and Bent came on to finish it off and add insult to injury! <laugh>

Ah yeah I remember that, that was literally the game after Gilberto's Europa debut wasn't it? Initially thought "OK, maybe he'll turn out good after that shocking debut"... I was wrong, very wrong.

I'd have him here all day long if the price was right, injuries are obviously a concern but his finishing ratio is superb. Can't see Pool selling him though, even getting 20 games a season from him is worth having around as he'd probably net 11-12 goals.

So we've made our first signing of the summer...as 9-year old Elijah Upson has signed with our academy: http://tottenhamhotspur.blogspot.co.uk/2016/05/new-signing-will-have-to-wait-for-his.html

    A few more headlines
    * Paul Mitchell has identified FC Sion's prolific Senegalese striker Moussa Konate, who is available for £6m - so expect that fee to double shortly
    * Rennes have rejected Dortmund's £12m bid for Dembele III...which begs the question how Dortmund agreed terms with the player before the club
    * Michy Batshuayi has decided his future is at OM...although expect that to change at least sixteen times by deadline day
    * Rio Mavuba is telling Lille teammate Sofiane Boufale not to move to Spurs as he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter
    * Jordon Ibe's been linked, although this doesn't in any way feel like a way to strongarm his way back into Jürgen Norbert Klopp's plans...
    * Ray Parlour says Arsenal should bid for Harry Kane. Ray Parlour can **** off

They should. Especially if Spurs go straight into the CL group stages and the Goons finish 4th.
Think of the hilarity of Kane saying he wants to see if the Goons qualify first, and then deciding
to stay put a couple of days after.

The idea of West Ham spending £31m in one go can't have anything to do with the fact that they're moving into a new stadium in exchange for £2.50 and a yorkie bar, can it?

As for the player. Decent prospect but Ligue 1 has failed to impress for years quality-wise. For that price, not worth the risk.

If he goes to the Spanners he'll be no good once all his striker bits have been redacted.

Their transfer policy seems to be "Wait for Spurs to be linked with someone, then declare an interest" as the exact same thing can be said for Lacazette and Ben Yedder.

It's only a matter of time before Liverpool sue them for gimmick infringement.

    A few more headlines
    * Mason has been linked with a £6m move to Bournemouth
    * Mehmet Topal has agreed a new deal with Fenerbahce. Surprise surprise...
    * Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly snubbed overtures from Barca as he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter
    * Wet Spam are offering £31m for Batshuayi, because the club suddenly have a lot of disposible income due to moving to a stadium funded by the taxpayer that they aren't paying for so have no worries about the thousands of empty seats they'll be facing
    * The papers seem to think we'll be picking Newcastle's carcass in the summer, with Ayoze Perez and Florian Thauvin both linked - as I said back in the summer, if somebody could replace the Angel of the North with a giant neon sign reading "NO!!!", that is my stance on the thought of signing Thauvin

The Mason link's interesting anyway. Decent player, but in need of a 2.0 version <ok>

The Express is reporting that, according to Walter Sabbatini Roma's Director of Football, Mousa Dembele will be leaving us having been sold for a ridiculous fee. There's something ridiculous here. I am not conviced that it's the size of the fee.

Roma were linked with Dembele II a while ago. I wonder if they've got the story wrong about which one has agreed a deal?
The Fulham striker's out of contract, but the amount of money referred to could be wages, I guess?

My first thought was whether Baldini wanted to make things up to us for losing the plot during the Baldini Splurge a couple of summers back, but if he really wanted to do that we'd be receiving an £8m offer for Fazio.
