It's a damn shame that no Prem side seems to be interested, he's far too good for Championship football.

At least he'll be working with a coach that already knows him and a it's a Spurs man, too.

There may well be background information that we aren't aware of. I'm always nervous when a player comes back from a lengthy injury - we've seen it so many times - they often just don't look like the same player. It happened to Sandro, Kaboul and sadly Mason was showing signs of it last season.

His loan to WBA was peculiar at the time and still is today. Good passing side like Swansea and B'mouth were scrapping at the bottom in January and couldn't buy a goal for love or money. I was surprised he didn't go somewhere like that - a Pulis team was always going to be a bad move for a player with his skill set.

Oh well, I wish him all the best down there. Brighton weren't too far off it last season so let's hope he can help Chrissy H achieve the promotion he so richly deserves.

Ah forgot about the Hughton factor, should get Pritch to excel there if all goes through as I can see Chris building the team around him. Still... A damn shame we're losing such a brilliant talent.

Sad that he's gone without getting much of a chance but pleased he has headed down my way. Try to see BHA play at least once a season and gutted they missed out on promotion last season. It's a tough division with a lot of clubs now getting some serious financial clout behind them. While Brighton do have some financial muscle behind them, it is peanuts compared to some in that division. Just shows what you can do with a driven and loyal fanbase. From nearly dropping out of the football league and no ground to pushing for promotion to the top flight.

Swansea were certainly linked as recently as last week, but they seem to have switched their attention to Chadli.

Yeah read the reports of them going for Nacer, he'd be quality for Swansea, especially alongside Gylfi.

Brighton are my second team so I'm made up that Pritchard is going there. I think he will be a perfect fit with the football they play.
Maybe we have inserted a "real madrid" buy back policy anyway!

Some good news to Brighton the mood a bit after the Pritchard news (I'll get my coat).

After a few months of a stalemate, Marcus 'Lionel' Edwards has signed a senior contract with the club on a 2-year deal. If anyone of our up n coming youngsters has the potential to be the next Alli, it's Edwards. Outrageously talented young man <applause>

    Too lightweight.

Plus a pain in the ass by all accounts.

    Bored of him already.

Pritchard fee rumoured to be worth up to £8m. As I said a few weeks ago, if that's the kind of price we've slapped on a player with all of half an hour of PL football under his belt, it is crystal clear that we are well aware of his potential and, if so, why on earth are we letting him go?

Because the powers that be either don't see him improving considerably from where he is now and/or enough to break into our first team. £8m is peanuts nowadays, how many £8m-rated players do we have in our team? None. Everyone who gets significant game-time would go for significantly more.
Sell a few £8m players who management believe won't make it into our team and we can buy a £20m+ player who would

    hmmm...I dunno...

Bentaleb, Mason, Trippier and Carroll have all had fees in the region of £8m or lower bandied about them over the past weeks or months. Capoue, Lennon, Kaboul and Stambouli all went for far less recently, and all of them have significantly more game time under their belts than Alex.

A fairer comparison is perhaps to look at other youth players who haven't 'made it' and moved on, but even here the sum seems ridiculous. I know that the lengths of contracts aren't synonymous but still...Luongo and Fredericks went for far, far less and they'd at least worn a Spurs shirt in a senior game or two.

Maybe I'm way off the mark here, but £8m for a player who has played of all 12 minutes in a Spurs shirt, 7 of those being at the end of a meaningless 3-0 victory over Villa in 2014, seems far more than anyone else of his age and background experience. I'd much prefer this to be a case of the player saying 'look, I'm 23 already and need regular football' as opposed to the hierarchy giving up on him.

The market has gone nuts since we sold most of those players you mentioned.

Is there ever a time when the expression "the market has gone nuts" does not apply?

The fee is huge for a player that's barely played for the first team. I can't think of a similar sort of sale for anything close to that sort of fee. 8m can still get you all kinds of useful, proven players. I won't bother listing a bunch of players and their prices but within the last year or two there has been many.
