There's an article in the Fail today that discusses the net spend of the current top six over the past five years.
It references Transferleague.co.uk, which isn't perfect, but here are the totals:
    1. Man City: £402.55m
    2. Man Utd: £368.65m
    3. Arsenal: £205.89m
    4. Chelsea: £192.3m
    5. Liverpool: £121.52m
    6. Tottenham: £1m
Maybe we can afford to spend a bit in the next couple of windows, eh?
Going for Dele Alli-esque signings is probably the way to go for now, though.
We'll struggle to find any real value or quality in this window, barring a few youth signings.

The only other option is trying to find cheeky loan options for players who find themselves not getting the game time they'd hoped for at some of the best clubs in Europe.

And we should starting the look out for a potential striker. Sadly Janssen has Soldado written all over him. I just don't see things changing. The scenario is scarily similar...

We've gone for real bargains this window: the sons of the manager and our Scandanavian scout...

Also, we've had at least one Scandinavian on the pitch for each of the last 3 trophies we've won. In '84 we didn't have one but Anderlecht's missed penalties were taken by Morten Olsen [Danish] and Arnor Gudjohnson [Icelandic]. See, I'm on to something here....The 1981 and '82 cup winning teams contained Paul Miller who played for the Norwegian team, Skeid and substitute Gary Brooke who played for Gais [Sweden].

The team of the early 1970's .............I think one of them had a Swedish wife........or they must have watched some dodgy Swedish porn they got from Peter Storey.....or something.

Jake Livermore set for a medical at WBA ahead of a £10m move. Delighted for the lad - he's really pulled his career together after the personal tragedy he endured. West Brom are having a strong season and certainly represent a step up from the mess at Hull. A board that sanctions the mid-season sale of an ever-present player in a relegation scrap needs to be sectioned as far as I'm concerned. Lunacy.

It's being reported that Galatasaray are set to double Bruma's wages to ward off interest from whichever club his agent is saying is interested in him...I mean ward off interest from Spurs.

Shay Harrison has gone on loan to Yeovil til the end of the season. Quite surprised at that, I think he's a good player and with Janssen struggling to hit a barn door I'd have though Shay might have been given an opportunity at some point.

Best of luck to Tommy Carroll as well by the way, bit late on that but deserves a good move and hopefully it works out well for him at Swansea.

Worked well for Steven Caulker. For a while, anyway.

Yeovil are halfway to being our Vitesse Arnhem: Caulker, Townsend, Mason and Obika have all had loan stints there.

    It's a loan, not a transfer

For a start, Shaq is a striker and secondly, that's definitely not him in the photo. Great job, Mansfield <ok>
