We won the league because the big teams ****ed up allowing us and yourselves to sneak in. Thankfully you bottled it at the final moment.

I don't expect us to have a real drop in our level of play, but we won't be going away to the big teams like Man City, Chelsea and United and getting easy points.

The like for like comparison you're searching for is Slimani (leading scorer, small but still somewhat prestigious European league), 29 million vs. Janssen (leading scorer, small but prestigious European league) 11 million.

The big teams ****ed up? or were just better than them?

In our 8 games against the "top 4" you mention, we lost 1. - On the first game of the season and even our own player scored the goal!

5 years?! More like 15-20. Pretty much every managerial appointment they've made in that time has left me pretty happy that a club who could otherwise be a threat just shoots themselves in the foot time and again.

For the past few seasons both Newcastle and Villa reminded me a lot of Spurs during the Sugar Era: teams where one or two players were expected to paper over the gaping holes in the squad, and the planning only ever extended until the 90th minute of the final game of the season and not a minute longer - which meant that once the following season kicked off, the same problems would come to the surface yet again.

I don't know about the fee, but Sissoko could be a good signing for you.

He can purportedly play anywhere in the midfield given his physical attributes, but he's clearly been bought for his pace. No, he's not a winger, but he likes to run with the ball - and when in form, he can be hard to stop.

I'd describe him as an old style inside forward. If Spurs play 4-2-3-1, which sometimes becomes 4-1-4-1, he'll play wide midfield or wide in the three behind Kane.

His versatility is important, I think. We can't afford to have a squad of 25 high quality, experienced PL players and have some not play regularly. Having the flexibility of Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Sissoko is important at this stage of our development. I think we're now in a position where we can field a strong first XI and bench of 7 subs. After that it might get a little 'thinner' but there's some talented Academy players to add to that. It's our best squad since the early '80's as far as I'm concerned and it should be very good to watch.

Either we’ll be glad he’s here or we won’t. If we’re glad, great. If not, at least we made a mistake in the good cause of backing a manager who’s done a great job so far and asked for the player.

So, looks like our 2 teams are now:

    Lloris
    Walker Toby Jan Rose
    Dier Dembele
    Lamela Alli Eriksen
    Kane

    Vorm
    Trippier Wimmer CCV Davies
    Wanyama Sissoko
    Son Carroll N'Koudou
    Janssen

I've selected Carroll over Onomah as he seems to be a 'go-to' player for Poch. He played significantly more minutes than the latter last season, and the fact that he didn't simply leave on a free come June 1st suggests that he is still a firm part of the manager's plans.

On paper, that 'B' team could be a real handful - not just because it is quite nicely balanced, but because if it clicks into place and all goes to plan, the pace and power throughout the side will be too much for even above-average opposition to handle. Compare it to the side that was utterly schooled in Dortmund last season and it's quite simply night and day:

    Lloris
    Trippier Toby Wimmer Davies
    Mason Carroll
    Onomah Eriksen Son
    Chadli

Not for me. Sissoko's pace and mobility are far better, but Toure's a much better passer of the ball and has a far superior shot on him.
Sissoko should just do Dembele's job, as far as I can see. Pick the ball up deep and drive forward.
It does looks pretty decent, I guess. Frees up the likes of Onomah, Edwards, Winks, Harrison and a few others for the U21s, too.

Our new midfield man was on the verge of making a great run before being flattened from behind, more of that sort of play will get the fans excited - tenacity to win the ball, power & balance to beat the first tackle, skill and pace to beat the second, got straight back up after the barge in the back too, I like seeing that <ok>.

The GIF isn't long enough to truly tell but I don't think the ref blew for that barge in his back!

I was wondering about that, but I think that he tries to play the advantage.
He clearly indicates it for the previous foul and the ball goes to another French player, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
