In the splurge we paid about £90m for seven players and got £35m back when we sold four of them two years later. Even not allowing for the fact that Soldado was not young when we acquired him so was never going to increase in value, if the three left are now worth £55m then everything is fine. I don't think I'd sell Chadli, Lamela and Eriksen for less than £60m.....

A couple more have popped up this afternoon...

    * Talk of Bournemouth bidding for Mason has combined with the talk of our bidding for Callum Wilson
    * Anthony Martial has suddenly been linked with a move...a year after Monaco used us as a pawn to get pretty much double the £19m we were quoted for him last summer

More importantly, with Bournemouth guaranteed Premier League football for next season, they'll have the £6m they're bidding for Mason

I think we could nab an extra £2m on him as well, maybe in performance-based add-ons.

If we are going to build on a very good season for us we will need to put in a creditable CL performance, at least get to close to winning a domestic cup and come in the top 4 again. For this to happen we will need

    1) At least two new strikers...I would prefer strikers with Premier League experience so would see if Callum Wilson is available (think thats his name...the guy who got injured early season for Bournemouth). Not really sure who else though...but the ex Chelsea player Schurle is rumoured to be wanting to come back to the prem...always rated him. Both have the work rate required from what I have seen. There is also the Watford striker whose name I cant spell!
    2) Cover and competition for Dier...I think Newcastles Sisoko could be worth a try
    3) Cover and competition for Alli and Dembele... Barkley from Everton might be possible and Lassana Diarra is a free transfer and could be the experienced head we've been missing
    4) It might be harsh on Vorm but I think that another keeper could well be needed.

In my opinion we need a minimum of 5 players to ensure we can properly compete in all 4 competitions and to star well, remain strong through the winter and to not fade at the business end of the season.

    The latest batch of headlines...
    * Charlton striker Ademola Lookman is being linked once more, with an £8m fee being bandied about
    * Paul Mitchell was supposedly at Anfield to watch Villarreall playmaker Denis Suarez, so if Bobby Soldier can put in a good word for us...
    * Atletico Nacional striker Marlos Moreno is being linked, which doesn't look like another South American club using our name to screw a few extra million out of Porto, nor does it look like another minefield of third party shenanigans
    * Man Utd are linked with a double swoop for Kane and Robert Lewandowski. You can start laughing...NOW!
    * When making up a story of us bidding for Cheikhou Koyate, pornographer-in-chief David Sullivan said he'd only sanction the deal if it was a swap deal with Harry Kane. If I were Daniel Levy, I'd make up a story of them looking to sign Nacer Chadli and responding by saying we'd accept the deal if they took the cost of running the White (Supremacy) Elephant off of the London taxpayer

I read an interesting article on a Scottish Football Website questioning whether we have some involvement in the suggested Jordan Rossiter move to Rangers from Livepool. We were linked with him earlier this season, we have strong links with Mark Warburton and such a move where a player goes to a foreign league to return to England and Spurs would mirror the Zeki Fryers transfer.

The suggested saving is up to £8m on signing the player directly.

WHU bid €30 for a player today confirmed by the owner.

    It's either lacazette or Batshuayi

I have some terrible news for everyone: Sevilla DoF Monchi has strongly implied that they won't be taking up the option to buy Fazio at the end of his loan.

I hear Juventus are in the market for a centre back as Martin Caceres is out of contract this summer. How much can we get them to pay for an obvious downgrade who shares literally none of Caceres' strengths but has a laundry list of weaknesses?

"Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick has urged Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason to join the club.

"Ryan Mason is exactly the sort of player that we have got to be looking at."
"It is good to know that the club are trying to bring better talent in and improve the squad."
"I think that comes with the territory we are in now, we are able to look at players like Ryan Mason."
"The ultimate decision is down to the gaffer and there is no better man in charge to be the judge of what we need."

Suarez has been one of those gems on Football Manager for some time, if he's turns out to be half as good as the game version of himself then I'd definitely be all for it!

Never heard of this Marlos Moreno, just had to YouTube him (as you do), likes a trick or two, doesn't he?

Agreed - but only if the latter is happy sitting on the bench most of the time. I don't see him as any better than the options we have there currently, although he is a drastic improvement on Chadli.

I wouldn't want us selling Lallana to a rival.

Saying that the only reasoning behind it would be to open the door for Klopp to bring Gotze in. Although I'd still keep Lallana if Gotze did come - he's such a grafter, that often goes unnoticed.

Should be a very active summer at both our clubs tbf.

Read somewhere today that Phillip Lahm hasn't been sent off once in a career of around 750 competitive games. Would absolutely love him at Spurs, still has a few years in the tank and is simply a class act - as well as being the experienced head we sorely missed this season.

Any attacking midfielder linked with us, in fact quite possibly any player linked with us is going to be interesting because the likelihood of them being a regular starter is slim, it's why I never understood/ understand the Schurrle link and now Lallana is similar, Schurrle left Chelsea for first team football and I'd be amazed if Lallana left Pool for a spot on our bench. It's going to be very tough finding good-to-top quality players who are going to be content with having a squad role. It's easy to say "they'll get regular games" but ultimately the League and CL will be what players want and I can't see there being much rotation in those sides for all players to be satisfied with. We also don't have the "£ity or £helsea" factor in that guys will be somewhat happy on the bench when receiving crazy pay cheques. I think the best sort of players to be looking at right now are from teams relatively smaller than us in which the step up to a now CL side :)D) is a big thing for them or going for players reaching their peak years with just one or two years left of top level footy in them, like Diarra for example. If Schurrle or Lallana join then happy days because anything that strengthens the squad is brilliant in my opinion but I'd just find it highly unlikely for them to come here being a "2nd choice" player.

Providing injury free, you can pretty much guarantee that:

Hugo, Toby, Jan, Dier, Dembele (after suspension), Alli, Lamela, Eriksen and Kane will be getting at least 65-70 minutes in Prem and CL games next season for the most part, with perhaps a few games here and there where someone else steps in, only the full backs are likely to be rotated numerous times like they were this season due to the physicality of their roles, you have to be incredibly fit to be a Spurs FB and our ones have been brilliant this season, regardless who's played, while Rose and Walker are better, I have no problems seeing Davies and Trippier starting games.
