Am reading that PSG have jumped in and nicked this kid, Foyth, from under our noses. Typical Spurs, if true!
Sissoko = Adebayor. Another one we won't shift. Why oh why did we buy this clown and who's great idea was it? As for Barkley, I really don't get the interest on this player. He's 23 now and doesn't strike me as an intelligent footballer. At his age, he should have improved greatly but he hasn't. There's a reason why.
I may have a unique take on both of these players. Throw tomatoes if you wish. LOL I wasn't mad when we got Sissoko. I figured he'd be used in the centre of midfield alongside Wanyama or Dier as an alternative to Dembele. Closer to the position he bossed the Euros in, and made us look ordinary at the end of last season. Since he's come I've not seen him play there. I wouldn't have bought him to play on the wing personally. A part of me still hopes he'll come good and get some chances to show some quality in a Spurs shirt. He is clearly capable on his day. I notice most of us have patience for Janssen, but not Sissoko. Aside from the high fee, which is not his fault, I'm not sure why. As for Barkley, I remember two seasons ago he was lighting up the league. He's become more inconsistent of late, but I do feel that Poch has the power to sort him out. He would definitely add power to our squad, especially when you think about depth being the issue it was last season. I would not be happy with £50 mill though. Levy is no mug. (I say this in hope with fingers crossed after the Sissoko transfer.) I hope that we get a cheeky Levy bargain come deadline day, I don't see anyone else swooping in, and Everton clearly need to sell.
No tomatoes from me. I stated elsewhere that the problem with Sissoko last year was also his attitude- Poch said as much. But after that he did improve slightly which is why Poch gave him some playing time. If his attitude changes , there is a player in there. I am okay with him staying and giving him a chance in a world cup year where a player like that wants to prove himself. Everton have said that Barkley will not stay if he doesn't sign a new contract. How then can they demand £50mil? The player has created a problem for himself- do we need a player like that? I agree maybe at a cut down price but now he wants 150,000 a week-forget it. Move on- he is someone else's problem.Let the Spammers fall for that nonsense.
Last year the press were pushing "Christian Eriksen wants £150k per week to sign a new contract." He signed for about half that. If that figure's been mentioned (I rather doubt it), it would have been an opening gambit. Who has given this story to the media? Spurs? I don't think so. Barkley's people? Why? The only reason is if he wants Everton to match what Spurs are supposed to be considering paying. They'll know that we're not going to pay anyone that much unless they're better than Harry Kane. So, it's a non-starter on all levels. Barkley has been silent about his situation at Everton for months, why change it for this bollocks? It's been made up.
One of the few sane things I've heard reported about our interest in Barkley is that we value him at 15 million--and that other teams have dropped their interest.
Barkley is currently on £60k pw and the contract offer on the table from Everton is for a reported £100k. Why he would expect a further 50% increase on that is anyone's guess, and probably made up - as you said. We have to be careful not to bring in these Sissoko-type players who haven't really done all that much over the past few years yet waltz into Hotspur Way on our highest salary bracket. If I was Toby, I'd also be extremely pissed off that a man masquerading as a professional footballer was being paid £20k per week more than me. Bringing in Barkley for anything more than £80k is frankly an insult to Eriksen, Rose, Wanyama, Dier and numerous others who are on less than that. In fact, the only player it wouldn't be an insult to is Sissoko himself.
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...rton-ross-barkley-tottenham-transfer-13353109 As suspected, it's complete fabrication. If Barkley wants to play CL and in the World Cup, we're his only option. ****ing it up by asking for an unrealistic wage is just a bit dumb. He's at a crossroads in his career and money can't be his main concern.
Interesting that the £50m price tag has magically shrunk to "at least £30m" too. I personally think that's how much they'll sell him for, and we'll meet the price.
I told Tobes and the other 2 Everton lads on this website that there wouldn't be a 5,4 or 3 involved in the transfer fee, other than as a second or third digit. So, £29,999,999.99 it is! Also, all our recent 'record buys' have been complete ****.
We should stick to spending under 10 million..our 20 million and above purchases are always dog ****e
All the crazy talk about Barkley can be explained by his agent having an active fantasy life. I'm hoping the prescription for Sissoko's return to health is a change of kit.
I don't get the 'hate' from our fans towards Sissoko and Barkley too. Sissoko got less chances than Janssen last season. Barkley has all the ability in the world and could become a great player for club and country, admittedly he's had a stale few seasons but if Poch is the coach we all say he is, why couldn't he turn Barkley into a great?
The 'hate' for Barkley is more directed towards his price tag, the fact that he clearly isn't as good as many make him out to be, and that we're already well stocked in his preffered position. Nothing against the lad himself. Comparing Sissoko to Janssen is unfair on the Dutchman imo. 3 years in the PL versus first season - I think it's obvious who you'd expect more from and the bottom line is we didn't see it. People like Janssen and are willing to overlook his lack of ability because - like Soldado - he wears his heart on his sleeve and gives 100% every game. Sissoko is quite content moaning off the pitch about lack of game time then doing nothing on the pitch to support his complaints.
Reports saying Man Utd and Chelsea are now monitoring the Barkley situation. I do hope one of them buys him quick so we can concentrate on more appropriate targets.
