That last bit, you’re probably right. In theory Spurs are now and have been for the last few years in the financial position of 6th so finishing there is ‘correct’ and anything above is exceeding.

But as a fan, I dream of glory and seeing Lloris or whoever is captain lift some silverware.

Of course you think that Milan's DoF saying they won't be in the market for another week or two is somehow Levy's fault

What did he do, fly to Milan and tell Maldini not to bother making a bid for Aurier until the middle of the month?

Don't we all. If i thought some other owners would increase the chance of that I would want them in.

Yep, that`s why he should fack off and sell the club to somebody with a proper ambition to win trophies. ENIC`s business model is one designed to deliver profits, not silverware.

Mate it’s another excuse from the apologists...they love number crunching

we should be 6th coz we the 6th richest?

should we be the 8th best team in the world since we are the 8th richest club in the world?

Apologists should be expecting us to have at the bare minimum a team that gets to the 1/8 finals of the CL every season, if that is the case

So maybe they should turn their attentions to Levy but no because reality is that’s not their interest, they want us all to live our lives through Levy’s laboured vision.

In football it’s essential to make the most of the present...I hope the apologists have at the very least learned that lesson but I very much doubt it

I already explained this to you once, and you clearly ignored it, so I am going to have to explain it once again

WE ARE NOT THE EIGHTH RICHEST CLUB IN THE WORLD

What the actual study clearly states is that, in the 2018-19 season, Spurs' generated the eighth highest amount of revenue of all clubs - but this doesn't make us the eighth richest club for the simple reason that Chelsea were in ninth, and if you honestly want to claim that we're a richer club than Chelsea you are deluding yourself

The sad fact is that the following clubs are all richer than us
    New York City FC
    Yokohama F Marinos
    Girona
    Montevideo City Torque
    Melbourne City FC
    Sichuan Jiuniu
    Mumbai City FC

Why are they all richer than us? Because of their owner, who I believe you have heard of, as he is most commonly known by the name Sheikh Mansour...and by the way, that same study listed The Sheikh Mansour Team as the sixth richest in world football for the 2018-19 season, even though they have considerably more spending power than the fourth-placed Bayern Munich, which further makes it clear that the report is not based on wealth so should not be used to say we should be spending more money

More revenue + less spend. Both owners considerably wealthy but one is ambitious and trophy winning and one is run like a business. Even the tightly run ship that is miserly kroenke limited has spent more with less revenue and been winning trophies and success

All i hear is FFP but it seems other teams don't suffer from FFP but Levy magically has FFP over him

Cause they ignore FFP, as City have shown yet again. Proper businesses buy from the revenue and credit that the club can support, if you have an outside source of wealth to utilise, then it is not a level playing field. That is why I have a grudging respect for Arsenal, as they spend what the club's finances support. It seems to have become unsustainable in the last few years, but their glory years were earned, not given.

We spent over £100m on players last season, so how does that equate to "less spend"? Especially considering how clubs who are "richer" than us spent less, notably fifth-placed PSG spending £84m in total

And it has to be said that FFP certainly does apply to other clubs, it's just people refuse to believe it: the reason why the Nomads signed Ozil and Sanchez wasn't because they thought Arsenal were a team going places, it's because Los Ladrones and Barca needed to balance out their FFP after paying such massive fees for Bale and Suarez respectively and needed a willing patsy who would pay a large amount of money for a player deemed surplus to requirements - and this is before mentioning the minefield that is Ligue 1, where FFP applies double because not only are UEFA watching but also the league itself, which is why you regularly see teams drum up the prices of players so they can be covered for a good two or three seasons

Also, the fact is that FFP absolutely applied to other clubs - it's just UEFA didn't apply it the same to one set of clubs as they did to another, hence you have a situation where The Sheikh Mansour Team don't comply with FFP and their punishment was they got to compete in the Champions League but with a reduced subs bench, yet Dnipro didn't comply with FFP and got booted from the competition which ultimately led to their implosion as their benefactor got bored and walked leaving the club with massive debts, all of which underlines the real issue: TV companies are the ones undermining FFP. It's no coincidence that leagues with Sky showing the leagues - England, Germany, Italy, Spain - get second, third, or fourth chances when their teams ignore FFP rules (and, for that matter, talk about how important it is to finish the season in the middle of a global pandemic...) but leagues where Sky doesn't hold sway make one mistake and UEFA comes down on them like a hungry grizzly

and we are actually the 4th richest in the PL not the 6th as the apologists would have us believe to suit their excuses on behalf of the owners

Once again, it's based on revenue for a single season, not on how rich a club is. The graphic you posted says that at least twice

"2020 Money League top 20 revenue profile"
"Congratulations to Barcelona who are the highest revenue-generating club in the world for the first time"
"Participation in the Champions League final sees Tottenham Hotspur become London's highest revenue generating club for the first time since 1996/7"

We are not the fourth-richest club in the Premier League, either. Chelsea are richer than us. Saying otherwise is delusional

    Anyway...

Le10 Sport are reporting that PSG are willing to let Idrissa Gueye leave this summer. If this is true, we really need to jump on this immediately, because not only is Gueye a DM that we desperately need but he's already got PL experience from his time at Everton, and given he only joined PSG last year he wouldn't need much time to acclimatise

Given our previous dealings with PSG have gone pretty smoothly, and with Southampton playing silly buggers over Hojbjerg, we really should be getting on the blower ASAP

You clearly have strong feelings on the matter, but to call people who disagree with you "apologists" is insulting. There are differences of opinion here and people with different opinions to you are not making "excuses on behalf of the owners" simply because you associate their views.

It depends on what you mean by richer. They're in over a billion quids worth of debt, so I'm arguably richer than them! <laugh>

Depends on how much the Daily Sneer say how far our stadium went over budget this week. Isn't it by £2.6bn this week?

Maximising profit and maximising on field success are the same thing. It isn't possible to have a business model that does one without the other.

Reading back a few pages------ must be close season.

Definitely prefer Gueye to Hojlberg. He was very good at Everton.
