Quickly scrap that too This last market day is working to close the exit of the Club of @RubenPardo. In the winter market there will be no more movements in the current template.
Llorente would be sensible and would allow me to go back to asking CAN YOU HEAR THE DRUMS Balotelli would be pure banter though...Levy do the right thing and amuse us all
And think of the extra drama for the amazon documentary with Balotelli on board for the rest of the season
Mourinho on Sky, saying that Hugo and Ben Davies are new signings.... Levy's had him cloned and has the real Mourinho stashed in GKN's hidey hole.
Looks like we're done for the day. As I said throughout the tough times at the beginning of the season, we cannot look at each window in isolation. We suffered from chronic under-investment across 3 windows and it will take at least that to get things back on track. That said, the summer window should be seen as a positive step forward with regards to incomings but not nearly enough was accomplished in terms of outgoings. This window has been the reverse. Selling Eriksen, getting Rose as far away as possible and giving KWP the loan opportunity he should've had 2 years ago are all signs of good progress in terms of outgoings. But incomings are lacking. We are now desperately short at FB and ST. Elsewhere, we've improved CM and AM and in Gedson and Bergwijn have two young players who will only get better with time. But this does leave an enormous amount to do in the summer. Getting Rose, Wanyama, KWP, probably Dier and possibly Aurier out of the club permanently will be a tall order. And in the other direction, we'll need 2 new FBs, a DM and an ST. That's a hell of a lot to do in a summer curtailed by the Euros. I pretty much gave up on top 4 months ago and don't see any reason to get my hopes up moving forward. This was always going to be a transition season but ENIC are running out of time to get the job done. Come August 9th, the full picture will be clearer.
The only thing about top 4 that gives me some hope (not much, but some) is that no one above us (excl top 3) looks good enough to take that place. Lampard has holes in his squad and amazingly they have not bought anyone (iirc) and apparently he was in a foul mood at today's press conference. As they have a decent lead, it is theirs to lose, certainly. Otherwise Utd, Wolves, Sheff Utd (ffs) all look vulnerable at times. If anyone from us upwards went on a decent run they could still take that place. Whether we can do this is a big question though. On balance I feel we won't get there this season, but I wouldn't rule it out.
And it has. It has confirmed that progress is being made on both fronts. Not as quickly as I'd hoped, but there is movement in the right direction. I'd said if we sat twiddling our thumbs and did nothing, I'd be apoplectic, but that hasn't been the case. I am disappointed that we failed to get a striker in and would also have liked to see some deals agreed for the summer (Max Aarons and Hojlberg for example), but overall it hasn't been the disaster I was fearing. ENIC have done just enough to stave off CK's wrath until August.
We were never going to have a completely barren window...no chance is Levy getting 3 barren windows out of 4 and getting away with it.
Late Signing Alert Football BSider report that we have agreed terms with ...a goalkeeper, namely Ted Smith, who's been a free agent since leaving Southend at the end of last season and was on trial with us in pre-season
The Athletic report that Giroud is our last-ditch (as well as first-ditch and only-ditch) striker option for this window Looks like Seferovic is coming, boys!
