Just back from injury and hadn't played, to be fair. Not sure why Sanchez was favoured over Alderweireld, though. He's actually played that position. Played two full matches for Ivory Coast in the break, so he should be back up to speed now.
Remember he managed to repeatedly injure himself in increasingly bizarre ways at the AFCoN Frankly it's like he was doing everything in his power to get Foyth as first-choice RB
So-Near-Yet-So-Far Update: Paulo Dybala scored his first of the season as Juve secured a crucial 1-2 away win at early pace-setters Inter, leapfrogging them into 1st place for the first time this season. He now has 1 goal, 3 assists in 7 games. Bruno Fernandes, who recently turned 25, scored for the third game running to give Sporting a 2-1 win in the EL last Thursday. That takes his tally this season to 7 goals and 5 assists in 10 games. I appreciate that the Liga NOS isn't the best around, but those are seriously impressive stats, not least of all given the fact that barely a month ago he was under the clear impression that he was leaving the club to join us in the PL Promised Land.
The only reason a player would join United now is the money. After 6 years of hapless decision making, it is clear that the club is directionless and leaderless. All the excitement at Ole's appointment has completely evaporated this season. You are far, far better on paper than your results and performances show. But the gap between yourselves and City/Pool probably can't be bridged without almost bankrupting the club.
Quite looking forward to January. Will be kinda sad to see the likes of Rose, Toby and Eriksen leave as they’ve given great service but signing Ake, Atal, Fernandes and Dybala will be pretty cool.
The DM Problem Since there's been widespread calls for us to sign a new DM not just on Not606 but also the Reddit/Twitter crowd, which is a rare consensus all things considered, it's time to look at the DMs we've been linked with in the past couple of years to see how much more we'd have to spend in January than back in June/July Wilmar Barrios Played for Boca Juniors when we were linked with him throughout 2018 Signed for Zenit St Petersburg on a four-year contract in February 2019 Adrien ****ing Rabiot Playing for PSG and running his contract down between 2017-19 Signed for Juventus in the summer of 2019 on a four-year contract Amadou Haidara Played for Taurine FC Salzburg when we were linked with him back in 2018 Signed for Taurine FC Leipzig in January 2019 Amadou Diawara Played for Napoli when we were linked with him in late 2018/early 2019 Signed for Roma on a five-year contract in July 2019 Declan Rice Playing for West Scam with six months on his contract when linked in late 2018 Signed a five-year contract in even later 2018 Franck Kessie Played for Atalanta when we were linked with him in early 2017 Signed for Milan in a two-year loan with an obligation to buy in June 2017, becoming permanent in July 2019 (although there's talk that Milan want rid) Sander Berge Played for Genk in the summer of 2018 Still playing for Genk and hasn't renewed his contract Stanislav Lobotka Played for Centa Vigo with a €35m release clause in the summer of 2018 Still playing for Celta and hasn't renewed his contract, although I'm not sure if the release clause is still active So if we're still interested in any of that list, the options are to pay through the nose - or incur the wrath of the Levy Out mob by going for one of the options whose value hasn't ballooned in the last year
Berge for me. Was hoping we’d sign him last January when we were linked. Said before he reminds me of a raw version of Milinkovic-Savic and if Poch is looking for young, talented and hungry players, look no further.
Exodus Watch The Times report that Poch wants to offload the following in January Christian Eriksen Eric Dier Danny Rose Serge Aurier What remains of Victor Wanyama To be brutally honest, the only name that sticks out on that list is Dier: Eriksen's continuing to play silly buggers and we have Lo Celso in place to step in, Rose and Aurier have been hapless this season and we have both replacements (Davies, Sessegnon, Foyth, KWP) and reports in the summer suggested Aurier not moving on was the only reason we didn't sign Hysaj or Atal, Wanyama is done and should've joined Brugge - but Dier doesn't fit as he showed glimpses against Brighton of why we rated him pre-injury, as his dropping back allowed the full backs to get forward like they used to before we adopted the Air Raid tactics last season, plus he plays like he cares and that's a vast improvement on a few of his teammates this season
Saw on Apple News that Dier has been transfer listed. Might be time for Dier Hard to change his name.
I'm not bothered who Poch wants rid of...I want them gone. I believe Poch can turn us into something special again. Let him be the Boss Levy needs to be realistic with the price tags he puts on the players otherwise he's not serious enough about this for some strange reason
