Obviously N'Koudou was supposed to have been guarding the front door to the embassy.

  2. Tottenham want £45m for England defender Kyle Walker, 27, who is a target for Manchester City. (Daily Star)

Any substance to this? Or is it just hack nonsense?

In the article theres a source in fairness:
A source said: “Tottenham have a figure in mind for the player and it’s now down to City to pay it.”

Obviously that source could be anyone from Poch to your next door neighbours cat, and that figure could be anywhere from 45p to 450bn. I've genuinely had more transfer insight when I lean down to pick up dogshit from the garden.

  4. Lord Lucan, Jim Morrison and Shergar would probably have made a more impressive back 3!!

  7. Ah! I miss the good old days of the ITK!

There don't seem to be so many around, outside the tabloids, these days.

They paid £50m for Stones and another £50m for Stirling...for players whose contracts were nearing an end and were not considered the best in their position.
This was before the latest money windfall clubs got from the tv deal.
There is next to no chance that we have said we want £45m for him...that's without the fact that it was being reported last week that we wanted £50m for him!

The problem in trying to understand what goes on in Levy's Transfer Wonderland is that not very much of it makes sense. Anything that Levy says only stands for as long as he wants it to. If Citeh meet any Levy demand, he's more likely to increase the demand than to seal the deal.

Last summer we agreed a few to buy Pau Lopez at the end of this season following a loan spell. At the end of that loan we still want the player. So we'll seal the deal we negotiated? Not a chance. Now we re-enter negotiations with the price heading in our direction. Why? Because it's good business? Because Levy likes to do it? Who knows?

Citeh have committed all the errors. They've sold both their right backs. They've flashed their money about. They've seemingly tapped Walker up and they want the deal done quickly. That's going to cost them. Stones and Sterling cost £50m and are ****. Walker's worth a lot more than £50m to us. What he's worth to Citeh? We'll find out in time but it ain't going to be £45m.

Am I alone in thinking the Star upping the made-up Walker fee for Walker is for their readers' benefit? Stories have been going around the past couple of days saying we've valued Wimmer at £20m, and given how rarely he featured for us last season makes him worth a lot less than half of Walker - but knowing that maths is one of their readers' many, many weak subjects they think that changing the fee to £45m will have their readers thinking that's us valuing Walker at five times what we value Wimmer at.

I'll bet Levy is rubbing his hands in glee on the Walker blah blah.
Not at the money he could make, but the sheer summer of hell
he could create for Citeh for daring to try to buy a key Spurs player.

I mean, tis 9 years since Fergie had his Berbatoss 'hip operation' .
Surely Levy misses the fun of that. :)

I totally agree. If they're prepared to pay that kind of money for those 2 idiots then Walker must be worth at least £65m. As far as City is concerned, the genie is well and truly out of the bottle and they've only got themselves to blame. The same with Manure, after they overpaid for Pogba.

Laugh all you want but paying stupid money for, as it turns out, barely above-average players (nearing the end of their contracts) is going to drive up the prices of better players. Especially when they've got 4 years left on their current contract and their club has no intention of selling them.

So paying a lot for good young players with plenty of time to mature is silly but, paying more for an average 27 year old who has probably peaked would make more sense?

Hmmm, best right back in the country vs. players that may never be as good as is hoped? It's a hell lot of money to pay for potential whereas at 27 Walker still has a good 5 years in him. He's been great for the last 3 seasons, at least. You can't say the same for Sterling, Stones and Pogba.

    In who's opinion?
Bellerin and Aspi in London alone are better, Valencia is as good (probably better defensively) and he is a winger.
I really think some of you over rate some of your players.
