With the current state of Arsenal, Chelsea and Utd's XIs, I think it'd be very much in with a chance of top four.
Andre Gomes going to Everton. £22m apparently. Funny how we were being quoted £30m. Decent player but doesn't work hard enough to make it in a Poch team. Winks and Sissoko would run him off the park by contrast.
The type of player Spurs are alleged to be inquiring after is more important here than the level/truth of ITKs.
It doesn't matter if it's not true though, surely? Asensio's primarily a left-winger, IIRC. I doubt that's a priority for us right now.
So are the Spanish and Italian leagues. They seem to like propping up the top sides and hate competition. It's bizarre. We'd hate to sell our best players to other teams in the same division. They seem to prefer it.
Fully agree on the second point. On the first, I don't think that clubs set 'a price' as all the click-bait merchants suggest. If we come in for a player, they'll expect us to pay more than Everton...and City to pay more than us...and Madrid to pay more than them. If you're selling a player, you'd pray for United to come in and overpay rather than Daniel Levy turn up and ask for discount. If the club has more money and can afford it, why not?
This is the first time I've seen the Bayern Conveyor in reverse though. Like when Lewandowski got a standing ovation from 60,000 fans for strengthening their bitter rivals; that was bizarre but common. This is unheard of. Top defender with a year or two still in the tank and loads of experience? Yeah sure, let's sell him back to the team who pushed us all the way in the Bundseliga and would have won it had they not conceded 12 more goals than us. yup, let's strengthen their defense.
Better to be wrongly claimed to be pursuing Asencio than Andy Carroll. It means gossiping hacks and ITKs accept that Spurs are now at a level where the quality of claimed signing target has to be far higher than the sh*te they would spew out in summers past.
Not sure about him not working hard enough. Pretty sure he was one of the hardest working at Everton. He's pretty good in all areas bar shooting and playing key passes and sometimes his passing being a bit off. At 22m i think he's a steal and think he will do well in any team in the league apart from city. he wouldnt get in ahead of sissoko but i would probably have him in for winksy (stronger and more aggressive than him but tbf they are both pretty close). Saying that most here want someone more creative so he probably would only be used for squad depth so nothing lost really
The obvious question has to be whether or not Barca added a buy-back clause to the deal ...oh who am I kidding, the obvious question is how much Barca will pay to bring him back to prop up their HG quota in two or three seasons
We have examined the options and this one appears to be the best option Pass on ability good, Combatable Heritage suggests strength priced to buy An Anorak to die for , and the sooner the better. please log in to view this image
