How does he compare to, let's say, Grealish? They play in similar positions, right?

The world has moved on - they’re still a big draw especially for British players, but they have serious competition in the PL now, and the game has gotten more international for the coming generation of talent. The PL isn’t the go-to destination for the international players now either. And that’s without even talking about what’s going on on the pitch.

I’m straying out of my depth here on both players tbh, but - with a pinch of salt - I think Ceballos is the better player (sorry DH). But in so far as they are both technically proficient CMs who can beat the press, pick a pass, work reasonably hard and coperate as 10s or deeper, they’re vaguely similar. Grealish would be cheaper and HG (though impossible to get out of Villa this summer), Ceballos is better but valued higher and not HG. I think the Spaniard is probably a bit more versatile than Grealish too but that’s conjecture on my part.

Can we sign someone please Levy so we can get excited about something real?

    Andersen Watch
The oh-so-reliable Daily Star have taken a break from employing Harry ****espout to report that we have moved ahead of the Nomads in our chase of Joachim Andersen (you know, the bloke we apparently agreed a £23m fee for back in March/April...) after they cooled their interest

Is now a bad time to mention the Gazetta dello Sport reported that their double bid for Andersen & Dennis Praet was rejected out of hand by Samp, making it less a case of cooling interest and more being told vaffanculo?

There are all sorts of problems with this deal.

Joining this United has a huge WARNING sign attached to it. Lots of players careers have dropped off a cliff after going there - Alexis Sanchez, Lukaku, Angel Di Maria, Memphis Depay, Pogba, Fred, Bailly, Shaw come immediately to mind. I'm not sure the lad needs to make this move right now.

Secondly, Wan-Bissaka may be interested in going there, he may not...but Palace are going to squeeze any prospective purchaser until their eyes water. Their Chairman is an enormous Levy fan, he knows that he holds all the cards in this deal and will play them like they've been doing with Zaha...and then...

Finally, Ed Woodward is ****ing **** at this. He may know about sponsorships but he can't run a transfer to save his miserable little skin. Raiola led him around by the nose. Palace are now going to do the same.....overpay or forget it, mate.

Personally, If I was them, I'd forget it.

They are financially a big draw for rising domestic talent, or overseas players.

You can go there and get a big wage at the minimum.
If they rise back to their recent glory, then you get some silverware too.

If not, there is still the opportunity to leave them and go elsewhere,
whether they utilised you well or not, with much of your career still to unfold.

This just highlights how much of a crucial summer it is for us. Spurs have a chance to try and gqin a head start over Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal for the coming season.

Utd are in Europa and are seemingly not attracting the elite as they once could, their best player (albeit a dickhead) wants out, whilst the jury's out on Ole.
Arsenal are also in Europa and don't seem to have the biggest of budgets this season coupled with unwanted players who'll be hard to shift.
Chelsea are in the CL but have just lost one of the best players in world football and can't spend on replacements (albeit Pulisic now arriving may help).
Spurs on the other hand are in the CL and we can spend. Most all agree there are two problem areas, if we can sort them, it puts us in a good position, even more so if we keep Eriksen and Toby (albeit unlikely).

IF we nail it this summer, there's potential to close that current gap in the big six which is currently the top two and the rest, to top three and bottom three.

    No pressure, Poch/ Levy :emoticon-0141-whew:

The financial aspect is of course true, but the gap between them and others on the financial ladder isn’t what it was during Fergie’s time. You can definitely go and get a decent wage and probably have a good chance of getting gametime because they’re going through an overhaul but it just seems like chaos there right now. OGS has the job but nobody has the confidence he will really be there long term. It also seems like a toxic dressing room and if/when it goes wrong getting caught in the fallout could be really damaging for a player at the start of their career.

I'd reckon that Neymar left Barcelona and went to PSG mostly for the money and that Sanchez picked United over Citeh because of the wages (maybe he also wanted to work with Mourinho?).

Why did Ozil stay at Arsenal? He must have seen the way the club was going but £350k per is a lot of money and more than anyone else was going to offer him.

If Wan-Bissaka wants to choose a club based on learning to be a better player and increasing his chances of signing for a Barcelona, Madrid or a club that's going to win something big, United is not the best choice right now. He's got a long career ahead of him and 3 years on his contract. He should stay put until next summer and not sign any daft contract extensions like Zaha did last summer.

Next summer, Palace may be motivated to sell at a more reasonable price, as his contract would be starting to run down and he'll have a bit more choice of where he goes, as Chelsea will have hundreds of millions to spend.

We should be all over Max Aarons

AWB seems a tad over rated to me

I'd bet that we are but as with Grealish at Villa this summer, Norwich have him on a 4 year contract and are unlikely to sell, unless the player refuses to play, in order to drive a move.

Like previously with Dele and currently, with Sessegnon, we may have to bide our time and wait until Norwich are willing to sell. Fulham got relegated and Leeds didn't get promoted, which we will feel puts their young talent 'in play'. We may well see if that's true, pretty soon.

    AWB is a decent player.
His worth is overrated IMHO but tis a sellers market and Palace
are quite right to try and rinse any PL suitor who try to take him.

I’d also like us to go for Mitrovic as another option to Kane upfront.

AWB certainly overpriced at any rate, if Norwich hadn’t been promoted then I’m sure Aarons would likely be off. They surely won’t want to sell though for their first season back in the PL, unless a club were to offer an experienced England international RB in part-ex....

There's talk about him being 'trouble'. A bit of attitude is no bad thing but we don't need any dickheads.

If we're going to treat him like we did Vinnie and Llorente (bar post-Christmas this season), he'd be better off somewhere else and we'd be better spending our money on a 3rd choice 'keeper.

If we took him for what he is, and not concentrate on what he isn't, he could be a very decent purchase.

Man Utd have started sniffing around Aarons as a cheaper alternative to AWB, so his fee's going to skyrocket in response

The real issue there is Norwich always had leverage: if they were just about clinging on to a playoff spot in January a buy-and-loan-back offer may have worked, but instead they were in the automatic promotion spots in January so they weren't going to sell then and they certainly won't having secured promotion

The Sun tweeted about City's squad for next season if they secure their new signings. They can field two top teams, one worthy of winning the Prem, the other good enough to get into the top four:

    Ederson
    Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy
    KdB, Fernandinho, D. Silva
    B. Silva, Aguero, Sterling

    Bravo
    Cancelo, Otamendi, Maguire, Zinchenko
    Gundogan, Rodri, Foden
    Mahrez, Jesus, Sane

    Arab money is cray-cray.

Bottom one wouldn't make top four. Too many weak points and inexperience. But it is still scary. A second xi like that could push through to the QF or SF in both domestic cups without much of a strain.
