I very rarely disagree with your views - on football and other matters. BUT! I'm afraid my own view of Lamela is that he (a) has an unjustifiably high opinion of his own abilities; (b) lacks judgment at crucial moments (passing when he should shoot, shooting when he should pass, trying to dribble when he should hoof it); (c) lacks self-control (and perhaps the appropriate skills) in response to aggressive or provocative opponents. All in all, I think he was a waste of money - certainly not worth the amount we paid for him. So there!

I’d probably say a waste of money is harsh. He certainly didn’t turn out the player we expected we were getting but he has proven to be very handy over the years (when not injured!), especially in the transitional years under Poch.

I reckon we got our money’s worth but it’s time to say goodbye. Too unreliable now and we’re wasting a squad place on someone who is rarely available when we really need them to be.

Who's the Harry Kane looking one, third from left?

Edit: Guess it's Zaniolo, just looks really like a Kane faceswap and I've never really thought he looked much like him.

A waste of money may be slightly harsh but when you consider what he has returned on the £25.8 million we paid for him, there's not too many positives you can point out.

Ironically, his defensive skills and tracking back were probably his best asset during his peak days. He's chipped in with a few goals and assists but 14 PL goals in 6 years is frankly piss poor. He scored more in his final season at Roma alone - 15 I think!

Your argument is strong when you look at the figures and in reality as CK pointed out we have had only one good season from him. To be fair to him he has suffered from huge injury problems but at the level we aspire to be I have to admit he is not good enough in reality. To be honest when you point out that it's 6 years that made me sit up. On balance I would have to agree that we need to move on.

I know right, time has really flown. It's easy to forget that he was one of that famous line up photo, most of whom have come and gone.

In hindsight, we should have kept Chadli who I always rated. He wasn't the quickest but was good at getting goals in crucial games.

I think we all loved Siggy. Never understood why he was moved on. Mystery.

    No mystery.

He thought the writing was on the wall (Pochettino claims otherwise) ,
so left of his own choosing.

I think Gylfi’s problem and reason for leaving was simple: Eriksen.

Both are number tens and while Gylfi is great, Eriksen is a league or two above.

Ultimately Gyfli would’ve always been in Eriksen’s shadow had he stayed at Spurs.

Gylfi been playing the number ten role for most of the clubs hes been at and is crap compared to eriksen. I reckon he would be okay being that creative link a la what you have winks. This is what he does for iceland who play two up top and they. Were doing okay (also hes a good backup for the number ten role)

Not sure he’d cut it as an eight in the Prem though mate, international is a different ball game to this beast of a league. Doesn’t seem like the type of guy who’d put a shift in when need be. Creative, yes, but I think you’d have to play a midfield three if Gylfi was playing CM, with two DMs ready to do the dirty stuff. Everyone knows I ain’t Winks’ biggest fan but he at least grafts which is probably a key attribute for someone in that role, it’s just a shame he offers **** all going forward as otherwise he’d actually be a good player.

    Yeah, Bob. Don’t stir ****.
