Yeah apparently said we’d have to pay his release clause of €700m... that’s that out the window lol. Good to see we’re actually looking for those types though. Might get knocked back nine times out of ten but eventually one should come through, at least I’d hope so.
With talk of Trippier headed to Napoli (or possible Atletico) I've seen a few posters on r/coys suggesting that he's capable of a Sissoko-like turnaround next season so we shouldn't be quick to offer to chip in for the airfare The problem is the comparison doesn't hold water: while Sissoko wasn't effective in previous seasons there's no denying he always gave 100% whenever he was called upon - the thing with Trippier is that can't be said, with the best example being the Wolves game where he played the ball to Harry Winks even though Winks had two Wolves players on top of him, and when Winks lost possession trying to pass it back (which tends to happen when somebody passes you the ball when two opposition players are right on top of you) Trippier didn't try and win the ball back nor did he track back to help out the defence, instead he stood there yelling at Winks for losing the ball while Wolves were bearing down on our goal That's the moment where I lost any faith in Trippier being a first-choice player for us ever again, because if he'd rather blame teammates for his own mistakes and not both to remedy them he can spend the rest of the summer getting nervous when we're linked to various right backs for all I care Anyway, moving on... Argentine Rando Watch AS have reported that we're interested in Giovani Lo Celso and we're willing to pay €60m for him - which may sound expensive, although weirdly that's actually a pretty reasonable price considering Betis only made his loan from PSG permanent in April What stands out most about Lo Celso is he's capable of playing as both an 8 or a 10 without his game being affected at all as he's chipped in with goals and assists in both positions throughout the season at Betis, so if we need an Eriksen replacement we can drop him into the tip of the attacking trio while if we're looking for a creative midfielder we drop him into the pivot - or if we also brought in Ndombele, we'd have the means to play a 433 system next season HG Quota Boost Watch Our good and honest friends at the Daily Wail needed yet another distraction from the Dire Leader failing to "crush the saboteurs" and are reporting that we're readying an £80m offer to sign Callum Wilson and David Brooks from Bournemouth, because as we all know double deals happen all the time and are definitely not some fantasy cobbled together by tabloid hacks...
Air Traffic Control ITK Watch ...yes, that is a sentence you have just read Somebody has actually been tracking the flight data of the private plans G-THFC and G-SPUR to see if that reveals any indication of potential transfer business, and the results have been...well **** knows actually, but here's what we have G-THFC 24th May - London to somewhere near Lyon 24th May - London to...**** knows where, somewhere in Belgium via somewhere east of Paris G-SPUR 23rd May - London to Nantes 22nd May - London to Lille, before jetting off in the direction of Dublin 21st May - London to Bournemouth 12th May - London to Bournemouth So obviously this means Ndombele, Berge, Wilson, Brooks and presumably someone from Lille, with Nicolas Pepe the obvious suggestion Or I've just wasted a couple of minutes of your life while technically stalking a couple of Cesena owners Meanwhile... God bless you, LAdPCeV-B Reports suggest that Andre Villas-Boas is set to take over at Marseilles, and he's also reportedly looking to sign GKN when he takes over
Tielemans Watch Kristof Terreur has stated that we've held talks with Tielemans' agent over a potential move If this were a case of joined-up journalism, I might suggest it has something to do with PSG having a 20% sell-on clause on Giovani Lo Celso, which would scupper our reported €60m bid Championship Rando Watch Leeds have responded to our £10m bid for Jack Clarke by telling us to double it, which is yet another reason to remember that Daniel James is available for £15m...
Promising news RE Tielemans as Terreur is semi-reliable. As for Clarke, scrap that deal if they want £20m. Rather go for Ollie Watkins who’s better, albeit a bit older but also more ready to step up and would likely cost no more than £15m.
The only issue with Watkins for me is he'd need to be registered if we signed him, while James would still count as U21 for another season while Clarke not only counts as U21 but would also qualify as club-grown if we signed him this summer
With the amount we *should* be clearing out, it wouldn’t be a problem to register him (I think). Edit: Even though I’m not against looking for players for the future, I’d much rather we sign those who could play some part next season and I think Watkins would have a much better chance of that than Clarke. Clarke I fear would essentially be an English Nkoudou for the first year or two. Watkins could in theory replace Lamela (if sold).
It also depends on who we keep, as the following players will need to be registered next season as they were born prior to January 1st 1998 Kyle Walker-Peters Josh Onomah Cameron Carter-Vickers (born on 31st December 1997, FFS!) Anthony Georgiou Luke Amos Shayon Harrison Tom Glover Although that list already appears to be shrinking somewhat, with Onomah linked with a move to Wednesday, Harrison reportedly being told to find a new club, and Glover out of contract at the end of the season - while somebody at the club has reportedly been sending messages to CCV's mother telling her she could've kept her legs crossed for a few hours...
I’d say only KWP is likely to be kept - providing Tripps and/ or Aurier go. CCV may have the slightest of chances but he’s fifth in the pecking order and if we do sell Toby, I think he’ll remain fifth as we’re bound to sign a new CB. Feel for Amos as this was going to be his breakthrough season but unfortunately for him, Skipp’s taken that spot now. I’ve often maintained Onomah was the more naturally talented out of him and Winks but Winks worked harder and had more confidence when playing in the first team. Onomah held himself back too much and it’s cost him. Georgiou, Glover and Harrison 100% gone.
There are rumours that Berahino (excuse spelling) has been sacked by stoke .... hell of of crash and burn career since 2016!
Yeah, could say we dodged a bullet, although you could arguably say it was because of that failed move to us that started his downward spiral.
He came to the uk aged 10 after escaping a war zone...apparently he was driven to succeed...but after the transfer failure he seemed to go backwards. Lots of talk sbout him being "troubled"... maybe his childhood experiences have escaped what ever box he had locked them in. Hope he finds peace if that is the case.
The chairman was entitled to hold his ground, and Berahino does not seem to have been professional enough to accept the reality and have got on with it. Either way it did not materially damage Spurs in their on-pitch operations, so the rest is now a matter of historical debate only.
And he didn't even do a good job of that: they rejected every offer we made, including the final bid for the full £23m fee up front...and sold him for £12m to Stoke eighteen months later, having rejected a £17m bid the previous summer
Thank you for riding the Grealish Hype Train return service, calling at Aston & Witton via Wembley. This service terminates here, all change please.
