Them asking more money from domestic rivals is smart business. Imagine they had included him plus £40million for Kyle Walker, they’d look so silly now.

Not when the player is out of contract it isn't. Then they look silly for only showing an interest in one of their youngsters when we wanted to buy them.

City wanted to keep him though didn’t they? I thought it was Sancho who decided he wanted to leave and City knew he’d be quality so refused to sell him to English rivals. Liverpool were also interested in him.

Yep. City made the best deal available. They didn't strengthen a rival and made it more likely that they could buy him back.

Do they have a buy back clause for him?

No. According to Dortmund's Sporting Director they have a matching right, but no buy back option.
They can match any successful bid for him and Dortmund have to accept it.

Only if he wants to go, someone should show him the Danny Blanchflower interview that I posted on the ex-spur thread earlier. Until he actually signs, he holds all of the ace's.

He doesn't have to accept the move, but Dortmund have to accept the bid.

    So ...

Spurs offer 20m. Dortmund like that, and say "agreement in principle" .
They say to Citeh : will you match that (as per the T+Cs) ?? Citeh say : yep.
Sancho says : I am happy to go, but only to Spurs .

Q : which club does Sancho end up at ??

Where ever Sancho wants to go, he has the ultimate power of choice until he signs, then he is bound by the terms of whatever he signs.

My guess would be us, because Dortmund aren’t obligated to sell to City if they match the bid, only to allow City to match the valuation if they want to. The player can’t be forced to sign a contract if he doesn’t want to (though City’s owners no doubt have their means, namely large wads of petrodollars) so I imagine that if the valuations are equal then it’s the players choice to go to City, the club matching the bid, or to stay at Dortmund.

As I knew. < restraint of trade >

So all Sugga Daddy FCs like Citeh can do to reclaim the likes of
Sancho is (as they always do) OUTBID on transfer/wage fees.

The potential Spurs psych war for Sancho is immense.

We go over to Dortmund, put them out of the CL.

Tell the boy we wanted him, but Citeh transfer fee poisoned the deal
to prevent him becoming another young England talent having
the Pochettino magic worked on him.

    They didn't want you, lad.
And they were quite willing to drive you out of your home nation
    to prevent the above.

The kid has got his head screwed on, put himself in the shop window. He wants to play and I don't blame him. There will be more who follow his lead. Hopefully Marcus Edwards will take note. It appears that he is giving it a go.

There's reports saying that U18 centre back Maxwell Statham has been offered a trial by Norwich - although that being said Statham has been training with the first team, with him appearing in one of today's training galleries

    Andersen Watch
    CalcioMercatio...

    ...wait! Come back!!!

CalcioMercato report that we have made an initial bid of €25m for Joachim Andersen, although Inter are said to be lurking with intent - although the main thing that stands out for me is that fee sounds like utter bollocks, given Andersen signed a contract until 2022 back in November, so the £35m quoted a week or two ago is far more likely

No, it's far more likely Levy will try to get him at a discount.

As long as we don't try and skimp on the price of a plane ticket, right Cardiff?
