Frenkie was the guy I really wanted most at Spurs, huge fan of the lad, reminds me of a young Modric. Kudos to Barca though, with Arthur and Frenkie, that’s their CM sorted for the next 8-10 years. Long, long way to go until they can ever be as good or as successful as Xavi and Iniesta but there aren’t many young players about who’d you fancy to do better than those two when stepping into those legend’s footsteps. As for Eriksen, I think Real are gonna go on a massive galactico spending spree this summer. Wouldn’t surprise me if they get Eriksen, Hazard plus maybe a striker as well.
Agreed on both counts. It’s a massive summer for Real Madrid, they probably need the two players you mention by name, the striker, plus a replacement for Modric if he leaves, Isco seems to be on the periphery now, Bale is always injured, they probably need to start thinking about succession planning at CB and they lack a top class option at RB...they’ve a lot of work to do. And before all of that they need a top manager. I know they’ve got a fair few young players in and around the squad but there will surely be pressure to spend big on at least 3/4 players especially when you consider they’re already 10 points off the top of La Liga with a GD of just 6 and it’s only January.
Yeah for sure, even though I’m praying we can secure Eriksen to a new deal, I wouldn’t begrudge him a move to Real so long as he doesn’t act a prick like Modric/ Bale did in trying to engineer a move. I’m hoping the rumours of a cash (and a lot of cash a that!) plus a player is what will happen if he is to go, whether that be Rodriguez or Isco, neither player seems to have a future at Real and if we’re losing someone like Eriksen, getting one of those plus dough will soften the blow.
I’m resigned to losing Eriksen this summer I’m afraid, and tbh if we lost him and picked up Isco plus cash to put towards a CM and a CB to relace Toby then honestly I think that would be the best possible outcome given that I don’t think we would be picking up a player of Isco’s calibre no matter how much money we got for Eriksen. I’m less sold on James Rodriguez to be honest. Isco is a better fit for us. It’s all a bit pie in the sky though with these swap/cash deals!
I’m still holding a little bit of hope but it really is a little. First choice for me is obviously keeping the Danish magician, failing that then I agree, Isco and money is better than Rodriguez and money (although I wouldn’t be against the signing of Rodriguez). Cash and player deals are indeed rare these days but it’s the only deal that makes sense for us if we are to sell. Selling Eriksen for a big pile of dough is all well and good but replacing him with someone of equal or near equal quality would cost probably 75% of what we’d get from Real for him, so it makes much more sense to try and rinse them for as much financially whilst bagging a top player in return.
Spanish outlet Marca saying we’ve got interest in Atleti striker Nikola Kalinic, especially as Atleti will be looking to offload him to make way for Morata. Isn’t Kalinic the guy who a) used to play for Blackburn? and b) threw a massive sulk at the World Cup?
Rumours also that we’re gonna try and hijack the Josh Maja to Bordeaux deal. This is a signing that makes a lot of sense, it’s the type that Spurs generally do very well from in terms of cheap, young and English.
Yes DH, Kalinic was at Blackburn and I think was the guy who was sent home from the World Cup for refusing to come on as a substitute. At 31, with a questionable attitude after the summer, and having never got back to the form he showed with Fiorentina a few years back, I would be surprised if this happened. Maja would be a good punt for us.
Yeah it’s a “no” from me with regards to Kalinic then. He’s not even good enough to warrant a **** attitude, at least our interest in someone like Rabiot is worthy as he’s a top player despite being a massive cock.
Can always tell you’re reaching the final week of the window as the links just keep on coming. Rumours that Inter are considering selling Nainggolan (despite him only joining in the summer) and guess who’s supposedly interested...
If I recall from our games against them, their fans aren't impressed and neither am I. His best days have definitely gone by.
