Carroll and Aurier on the pitch at the same time will also put the fear into the opposition's girlfriends...
Contradiction Watch "Jonas Hofmann will be joining Spurs soon" - BILD, 19th January "That's the first I've heard of any bid" - Jonas Hofmann, to Sport, 21st January
Fair points HBIC and, in fact, he has become a bit of a sick note recently. Not sure about the authenticity of the £75m quoted but the fitness issue is very relevant. As it would be with Carroll, albeit at a much lower price.
While the quoted fee may be inflated due to who was making inquiries about his availability, there's definitely no room to haggle when you consider a.) The nationality on his passport b.) He signed a four year contract last July c.) He's been in good form this season d.) He made his England debut since signing the contract That's the one place the permanently-linked Josh King makes more sense: he's just as HG as Wilson yet won't have the English tax attached, and he's halfway through a contract so there is some negotiating room
Mostly paid by Spam as we are doing them a favour giving him playing time.. Not that I want him anywhere near our players. He would probably injure them in training
The trouble with King is that his relationship with the ball and back of the net is not as strong as Wilson's. He has always been good at putting himself about, unsettling defenders and getting on the end of things but doesn't quite have the knack of hitting the back of the net as regularly. That is something money can't buy. I've wondered if Bournemouth will be off loading one of their strikers after the signing of Solanke but with Wilson spending more time on the treatment table, in reality they won't let any go, unless for silly money, hence the £75m quoted to the Chavs.
King would work in the Llorente/Janssen role, although the obvious issue is he'd expect more playing time than either of them do Of course there could be another reason for them quoting £75m to the Chavs, namely they know full well they have a buy-back clause for Nathan Ake and are doing what they can to stop their team from being stripmined
A West Ham fan that I know told me a story that I've repeated on here before, but I'll tell it again due to the Carroll link. One of his fellow Spammers went to the pub before one of their games and he was chatting about bets with another friend. He had Carroll to score first and the barmaid serving them told him it wasn't going to happen. Thinking that she was just offering an opinion, he tried to counter with some spiel. You never know, he's a threat from set-pieces or whatever. She then pointed out that Carroll was round the corner in the other part of the bar, having a pint.
Double negative mate. Equals a positive. Injury-prone Carroll joins injury-hit Spurs. Becomes signing of the season. You heard it here first.
Exodus Watch The Torygraph are reporting that we've put a £12m pricetag on Janssen and a £10m pricetag on GKN, and go on to suggest that there's interest in Janssen from China and Trumpland
So that would be over £30 million from sales (including Dembele) and a lot of money off the wage bill too.
Have you heard anything about being interested in signing, Josh Maja? We are hearing that he could be yours this transfer widow.
Just the same rumours, Saffy. I think there's a number of teams looking at him, due to his contract situation.
His name's been popping up for a while, as I've mentioned him at least a couple of times in passing, although it's telling that he's now mainly being linked with the two Old Firm clubs One thing that's certainly worth noting is he has the same agent as Jadon Sancho, Reiss Nelson, Ola Aina, Sheyi Ojo and Chuka Apron - aka a lot of English prospects who are playing overseas, so I wouldn't rule out a Bundesliga club coming in for him late in the window
As Levy says to rival chairmen... Roses are red, Violets are twisted, Now bend over bitch, It's time you got fisted!
