Tbf haven't really been thinking of that. I know moura was impacting Kane as he has done a rooney and wants to play deep half the time. Maybe he might get some opportunities. Where does he actually play (maja)?
Kane cannot be rested because there is no one can chip in with goals akin to the likes of Giroud. Spurs have some really sh*t luck when it comes to strikers. 1. Had Teddy/Klinsmann, Berbatoss etc when the MF was not good enough to support them. 2. Had the likes of Modric/Bale/VDV in MF, but the group of strikers (Defoe/Crouch/Pav) were not that coveted 20+ PL per season beast. And now, when we have in Kane the peer of #1 + the MF that is the peer of #2, we don't have the lesser strikers of #2.
I'd say straight up striker, according to Transfermarkt: Centre forward - 21 games, 13 goals, 1 assist. Second striker - 1 game, 1 goal. Right winger - 1 game.
To make things interesting, French journalist Abdellah Boulma (no idea how reliable he is) is saying PSG want to persuade Dembele to join them instead of going to China. Soooo.... Chinese clubs = Big money. PSG = Big money. A bidding war would be absolutely lovely right about now.
Pochettino's paired Kane with Son, Moura and Llorente so far this season and there are rumours that the Spaniard's off. Maja's an out-and-out striker, from what I've read about him. He's also from London, so he might fancy moving back.
Looks like I was right about Ogilvie Says a lot that, by checking Gillingham's starting xi the other day, I am now more a more credible source than several tabloids
The Wail (I know, I know) have added Aurier to the list of players Poch is thinking of selling or loaning out Why do I get the feeling their "source" was me suggesting that, if we accept PSG's offer of Meunier for Toby, Aurier will obviously be the right back making way?
So what do we make of Pochs comments on BT last night, seemed to be suggesting that signing any players would hamper the development of the youngsters coming through and that he is happy with the squad as it stands? Just toeing the party line or deflecting the media away from our search for improvements?
I’m sure it’s the party line, we know we seriously wanted at least one in the summer and if anything the situation has gotten worse since then with more players close to an exit than before, especially in CM. Surely behind the scenes we’re working on something (pending the outgoings of course) though we all know how difficult January is. This way he’s covering his bases - if we don’t sign anyone then we’re promoting youth like he’s always said we would, and if we do sign someone it’s because we’ve had to move one or two on, so the opportunity is still there for the young players like Skipp who I don’t think is going to stop being in and around the first team any time soon.
I’d say he definitely wants signings. He mentioned how “we can always improve” and he said similar in the summer. We all know for sure Grealish was definitely pursued. Robbie Keane also said in a punditry role that we were after “four players” in the summer. I think what’s apparent though is that unless we shift players out, we won’t/ can’t bring players in. Hopefully the news of Dembele being approached by the Chinese side last night will be the first of many we can begin to try and shift out in order to make space.
It's safe to say Inter Milan have made the signing of the summer already - Diego Godin will join them on a free once his deal expires at Atleti. Best CB on the planet for me, even at 32.
Didn’t you get the memo DH, Virgil van Dijk is the best CB in the world, ever. Get with with narrative man. Seriously though that’s an impressive signing for Inter, especially as you’d have thought there would be a few others in for him too not least Juve who love a tough old centre half.
We've had this on the Prem board already. I even mentioned Godin (and Ramos) is the best, one response was "Yeah, Godin's good but I'd rather have van Dijk", words failed me, lol. I'm a big fan of our three main CBs but if someone said you have the chance to swap one of them for Godin, I'd take whoever it was to the airport myself!
I think I read that conversation haha, I sometimes read the PL board but never post there. VVD has had a great 12 months since joining Pool and is up there with the best in the PL but the likes of Godin, Ramos, the Juventus bunch and even someone comparatively younger like Varane who have all been at the top of their game for much longer are just at another level. If he gets deep into the CL repeatedly and wins some trophies while keeping Pool defensively as tight as they have been this season over the next few years then he deserves to be mentioned in that bracket but it’s too soon for that kind of discussion right now as far as he is concerned.
Haha I've been posting regularly on it for about two years now, good laugh, can get dark at times but I've got a messed up sense of humour so it suits me. I agree, VVD is good, he's definitely helped shore up their defence along with the signing of Alisson but there are defenders out there who've been pivotal to league and European winning sides for years. To think VVD is in that bracket right now is just utter madness but no less than you'd expect from those deluded scousers. We don't even consider Jan and Toby in that bracket and they've been superb for a number of years now.
To me it suggested that he has fully accepted that we won't be spending money...can't recall his exact words but it's what I felt he meant. I can accept that...if Poch is happy.
