He needs to get out of there quick or his bird will soon be expecting a baby and it will be born with 666 on its head
Verts out till December earliest. Dier should be played at CB...two birds, one stone since he's gash in the middle. Looks like we could have done with a midfielder of certain quality
Dier should be rested. He's knackered, playing **** because of it and it's damaging his confidence, which makes him play worse. Alderweireld and Sanchez can handle most of the games. Foyth can fill in when needed. Wanayama, Sissoko, Dembele and Winks can handle the central midfield roles until Dier's back to 100% or we're desperate.
They gave 2 goals between them in about 3 years...thats the bit that baffles me about our midfield getting too many ratings. Surely you expect more from a CM pairing
They're not there to score goals, though Dembele could probably contribute more, as he's certainly got the ability. They're there to protect the defence, press the opposition, move it up the pitch and give it to someone who's a threat. Kane, Eriksen, Alli and Son got 87 goals between them in the last campaign. If Moura and Lamela can chip in with double figures each and we maintain the rest, then goals isn't really a problem. The odd set-piece header wouldn't go amiss though, to be honest.
De Ligt Watch Barcelona-based muckrakers Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Barca have begun the process of signing Matthijs De Ligt Personally I find this report questionable, as I haven't seen a single quote from Frank Rijkaard or Ronald Koeman saying how beneficial for his career it would be for him to sign for Barca
Centre Back Watch Waking up this morning wondering what gifts he would receive for his 21st birthday, Nikola Milinkovic received one hell of a surprise present: The Mirror linking him with us. Still, I suppose that gave him brief respite from how it's impossible for any journalist to write about him without bringing up Nemanja Vidic by the third paragraph...
Reports are suggesting that GKN isn't long for this club - a conclusion most of us came to given the following i.) Lucas' arrival in January meaning we signed a pacy winger from Ligue 1 who contributes to the team (and it only took three attempts!) ii.) His promptly being loaned to Burnley when Lucas arrived, even though Lucas wasn't a regular starter last season iii.) The fact he's not been in a single matchday squad this season iv.) The fact he didn't make our Champions League squad v.) He was linked with a loan move to St Etienne in the summer, but remained at the club So, yeah, he's a goner
Rando Watch We've been linked with West Brom winger Oliver Burke for the past day or two, which is a move that's hard to justify from one angle yet makes perfect sense from the other Let's start with the hard to justify version first: while he did look a good prospect a couple of seasons ago at Forest, when he joined Taurine FC Leipzig he was frequently criticised for his lack of tactical awareness and they were happy to sell him to West Brom last summer, and since joining West Brom he made very little impact last season while this season he hasn't even played for them, only featuring for the U21s. On top of that we have plenty of wingers at the moment with Lucas, Lamela and Son (plus there's a bloke named N'Koudou whose been seen hanging around the training pitch for the last couple of years) in the squad, so he'd obviously not be starting many games if he did sign Now here's the angle from which it could make sense: he has a unique combination of attributes that could make him a nightmare for a tiring defence as he's got a hell of a lot of pace and is more than capable of taking the ball around his opponents, but he's also got the size and strength to hold up the ball while also meaning that once he gets up to speed he can literally bulldoze his way past defenders. There's also the fact that, as he came through Forest's youth system, he qualifies as HG - and given that we've had problems with this in the Champions League for the past couple of seasons, in that regard he'd certainly be a more useful player to have than GKN In the event that he does actually sign, I'll lay claim to being the poster who first coined the nickname Angus Townsend in case he reminds us a little too much of a certain other pacy winger with a lack of tactical awareness we've had on our books...
Dan Kilpatrick wrote in last night's Standard (edited by Chelsea fan George Osborne) that Foyth is considering a January exit if he doesn't get first team minutes...although given the complete lack of any available quotes and sources in an article that you could almost literally fit into a single tweet, it's either spitballing on Kilpatrick's behalf or possible Foyth's agent testing the waters. Meanwhile, FootBallDotLondon have somehow managed to scrape below that particular barrel by using our 2019 calendar as the basis for speculation about which players we're planning on selling - although nobody tell them that doing this scuppers months of imminent speculation about Kane or Eriksen heading to Spain... please log in to view this image
There's very little prospect of Foyth being sold, unless there's been a severe falling out between him and MP. Equally, I don't see him as being particularly close to the first team, even with Super Jan out injured. He still looks too slight physically to go up against the majority of PL forwards. I still think that he'd be a fabulous holding midfielder but apart from that change in position, the best thing for him would be to go out on loan to the Championship, maybe Leeds, and let him fight for a place with lesser talents. If he can take his chance, maybe we've got ourselves a player for next season?
There's one teeny tiny detail that Kilpatrick forgot to mention in his piece... Since he returned to training on September 20th we've played the following games 22/9 - Brighton 26/9 - Watford 29/9 - Huddersfield 3/10 - Barca 6/10 - Cardiff As his name isn't Kane or Lloris he was never going to feature in the Brighton, Watford or Huddersfield games in spite of only being back in training for a week, and nobody was expecting him to play against Barca, although I can't think of a reason why he wasn't on the bench for the Cardiff game. So from that standpoint it sounds an awful lot like those muckrakers who posted articles saying we didn't rate Lamela as he wasn't playing in his first season...all of them somehow missing him being ruled out for half the season with a back injury, so of course he wasn't bloody playing! Far more relevant to Foyth is the following article that was posted at lunchtime today: https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-transfers-juan-foyth-14806485 As you can see from Foyth's comments he doesn't appear to be FURIOUS at a lack of playing time, in fact he says the exact opposite. But what's really interesting is him mentioning that he's essentially had to learn to speak English from scratch since his arrival, and I remember that Lamela had similar issues when he arrived to the point that, when he was out with that aforementioned back injury, he took an ESL course so he could better communicate with his teammates - and Jack Wheelchair - when he returned. That certainly seems more likely considering there's an article on the OS from last season's game against APOEL that mentions that Foyth and Sanchez were able to communicate as both are native Spanish speakers who are both learning English, but Sanchez would have had a year's head start on Foyth from his time at Ajax given how widely used English is in the Netherlands (particularly Amsterdam) coupled with the media training he would have had while he was there ...okay, this got a bit rambly
Maybe, but I agree with all of it. He's a young lad with a lot of talent but a lot of adapting to life at Spurs, under MP. If he expected to be in the PL squad on a regular basis as a centre half, he would be overly optimistic to a significant degree. He's got plenty of time and he couldn't ask for a better place to develop.
Rumours from a S American journalist that we've reignited our interest in Wilma... https://thisisfutbol.com/2018/10/blogs/tottenham-agree-terms-with-barrios-agent/ I could see this happening and DL wanting it sorted well in advance of January. We are short on numbers in the middle and he'll want to sell Mousa. Also, I think Big Vic is done at Spurs and this bloke's within our budget and available. If MP can get him to cut out the unnecessary fouls, he could be a decent signing.
Malcom Watch Anyone getting a feeling of deja vu? With him playing the grand total of 25 minutes so far this season and frequently failing to make Barca's matchday squads, we're one of a list of clubs being linked with a January loan move for him, which is news that I'm sure Roma fans are incredibly ****ed off to hear. Rando Watch As it's been a whole two days since we were last linked to an standout Championship player, we've been linked with Blackburn midfielder Bradley Dack, who to be fair has been impressive scoring form for them since signing from Gillingham, scoring eighteen goals last season while he's already scored eight in ten this season. However, it is worth noting I've seen him described as an older, not as good Grealish - just as it's worth pointing out he's two years older than Dele Alli
Agent at Training Ground this morning and terms agreed allegedly..... Decent player but his WC antics won't have endeared him to Spurs fans. Hopefully he can change.....
