Sorry I missed that because you never named him, schoolboy error. You could be right as it would fit into a short conversation I had with Brian earlier regarding "project 2"
Apparently, Chelsea are interested in signing Jack Grealish. Their bid is for more money than ours and includes loaning the player back to........ "Nurse......nurse."
He’d be an idiot to join Chelsea regardless of whether he gets loaned back or not. Only has to look at 99% of young players who join them to realise it never works out, especially as he’s English, too!
We should start feeding stories of being interested in really crap players as it seems that's all it takes to make Chelsea bid. They clearly trust our scouts more than their own.
Martial comes across a bit sulky and like I said before...he brings nothing that Son already hasn't delivered so it would be the bench for him for starters. Obviously it means our squad depth has improved. Still waiting for Bale
I did suggest a while ago that we're well into Phase 2 of Levy's long-term vision for the club, possibly on the verge of stepping into Phase 3 with the new stadium going up, which sort of broke down like this Phase 1 (2012-13) * Hire tactically astute manager for long haul (because according to Rafa VDV, Harry's tactics consisted of "Pass it to Luka") * Integrate promising youngsters into first team (Caulker, Townsend and Rose being the obvious names) * Build a reasonably young core (Lloris, Verts, Dembele) * Invest in young talent (Sigurdsson, Holtby, Fryers) * Qualify for Champions League Phase 1.1 (2014-15) * Hope that this tactically astute manager for the long haul doesn't bollocks everything up * Continue development of promising youngsters already in first team (Kane, Bentaleb) * Integrate other promising youngsters into the first team (Mason) * Mold a team out of what Baldini left (Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli) * Invest in young talent (Dier, Davies, Yedlin) * Qualify for the Champions League Phase 2 (2015-present) * Make push for regular Champions League football * Watch the promising youngsters become damn good players (Kane, Alli, Eriksen, etc etc) * Make astute signings who can add a lot to the team (Alderweireld, Son) * Improve squad depth (Trippier, Wanyama, Moura, Wimmer) * Continue introducing promising youngsters (Winks, KWP) * Invest in young talent (Foyth) * Sign random pacy wingers from Ligue 1 whose names begin with an N who rarely play (N'Jie, N'Koudou) * End that St Totteringham's Day bollocks once and for all
MP's original brief was..."Get us closer to the Top 4, so that we can compete when we move into the new stadium." Well, he 'knocked that out of the park', transformed our fortunes and more than trebled his wages into the bargain. Now, apparently we need to win stuff......where have I heard that before?
You can probably add to that : Possess very marketable young players in the team whose performance and appeal may raise the profile of the club (and the sums that sponsors are prepared to pay during the new WHL era) .
