I'm worried about this. Would be a reverse repeat of the Bale-Real-Ozil-Arsenal triangle. He'd get more game time at Dortmund although Yarmolenko plays in his preferred position. I'm hopeful Dortmund will go for an out and out striker but in all honesty it looks as though the Aubameyang deal will go to the wire so unless they've got someone lined up in mind they'll probably wait until the summer to spend. German clubs rarely rush things.
Lucas Moura Watch So the other day the Torygraph reported that, with personal terms agreed, the deal would be going through either today or tomorrow - but now with their gazumping Narrative they've changed their story to saying that the deal should have gone through on Friday. Can't think what possible reason they might want people to regularly check their website for updates...
Maddison scored the winner for Norwich yesterday and their highlights have just gone up: Nutmeg and great finish from range.
As I asked over in the Newport thread, why did we pass on him a couple of seasons back? We were lacking an understudy for Eriksen then, and we still haven't addressed that issue.
Didn't he pass on us due to wanting game time? If so. it was probably the right decision for him given where CCV, Josh Onomah and KWP are at this point. If I was parent to a talented young footballer, my advice would be to go somewhere and play. The days when we were one of very few PL clubs shopping in The Championship have gone.
This is why land grab (buy + immediate loan back) is IMHO the best way to go now. You at least : 1. build goodwill with the selling club 2. have the pre-season to have a look at the kids within your own training regime etc (decide that they remain where they are, loan elsewhere, Dele Alli fast-track etc) .
Definitely. I remember when we signed the Kyles, that Daniel Levy said that we had 2 budgets. one for first team signings and another for youngsters to develop. Both kyles went straight out on loan as did Big Tom Huddlestone. We've not made many moves into that market, probably because it's a lot more competitive these days and we're successful enough not to be able to offer immediate football but not rich/stupid enough to chuck around money like confetti. Everton are very keen on buying in young talent at top prices. In my opinion, Foyth is one of these and at this time is really not ready to play centre back for the first team. He looked okay yesterday in the second half as Newport were pretty much done with attacking but in the first half he looked lost a fair bit. Jan looked seriously stressed given what he had around him.

With regards to championship players, there's some really good talent at the moment that could definitely help strengthen our squad if we decided to delve into it now or in the summer. Sessegnon and Maddison are two we know of but then you also have Ollie Watkins who had an incredible season last year for Exeter and then moved to Brentford where he's adapted brilliantly. Diogo Jota of Wolves is loan from Atleti and has been excellent. Wolves actually have a number of players, most notably Ruben Neves whom they somehow persuaded to sign from Porto, Helder Costa is a very tricky wide player, Bonatini who's on loan from a middle eastern side has been scoring regularly and Ivan Cavaleiro is another who's impressed. Boro's Assombalonga is a very consistent striker. We could do a lot worse than taking a punt on some of those to fill and beef up areas of the squad.
No thanks. Looks like more of a Chelsea or Arsenal player based on that. Pass. Pass with as wide a berth as possible.
