I like to refer to this as Sheringham's Law: Teddy was never the quickest player in any of the teams he played in, yet his intelligence meant he moved the ball much quicker than the majority of opponents could prepare for - but his teammates knew he could do it.
He was also one of those players, like Luka Modric, who seemed to have ages on the ball and acres to play in. You don't have to beat someone with pace if they never get anywhere near you.
Technically not: Shilow Tracey and Maximus Tainio were both January signings in the seasons after Dele, although the fact they're U23 and U18 players respectively does somewhat underline the issue.
Way to go...that's probably the most interesting thing I have ever contrbuted to any thread and you not only know it's bollocks but had to tell everyone it was bollocks. Mo fo...go find a siren to post
No inside knowledge but I reckon there's a good chance we'll nab Lucas Moura from PSG this window. I'm Mour and Mour confident about it as the days go by, Iscouldn't be any worse than last January anyway cc @The RDBD
Info (at)francefootball (hashtag)Lucas is currently in London. He is in negotiation with (hashtag)Tottenham for a definitive transfer. (hashtag)PSG (hashtag)Mercato
DlS WATCH This time with a translations... * As announced by France Football, Lucas was in London today. Already returned to Paris. RDV with Lévy. Paris asks 25 million now (hashtag)rmclive * The salary of the player was problematic in recent hours. Ready with OA already refused by the PSG. Not so sure about the shorthand, though. I think RDV is shorthand for rendezvous, i.e. Moura met with Levy, but drawing a complete blank on OA
I'm hearing PSG want more than £30m but we value him at £25m and won't budge from that. Wages might also be an issue as he is already on around 70k pw so would become one of our highest earners before he's even kicked a ball.
The irony is that Louis Saha was probably the last striker we signed that actually done well all things considered. 12 games, 4 goals, free transfer, not much to moan about, IIRC I was actually disappointed we never extended his deal. Compare that with the £26m on Soldado, the £16m on Janssen or the £12m on Nando and I'd take a Saha any day of the week!
I've seen reports of it being less than £30m, around the £20m-£25m mark which is well within range. The £70k a week wages shouldn't be a problem, Lucas is a player that's technically up for transfer, he's not someone who's grabbing interest because he's playing week-in, week-out, if the lad supposedly wants to join us (if you're to believe reports) then matching or just slightly bettering that £70k should be enough. He's desperate to get out of PSG so would be stupid if he priced himself out of a move.
Is it just me.......or doesn't he remind anyone else of.......errr, well......Andros......you know,.....Townsend........just a little...........in looks, only........and sort of ...........how he plays? Just a bit? Maybe?
I would take Townsend over GKN and Sissoko any day. Not sure why he warranted such a witch hunt when he was a player here. Or are we just in denial about the fact that our search for a replacement has been a farce?
