One thing to note is Forest were quoting the Mansourites £100m for Gibbs-White back in January, so surely the release clause was truffled out back then considering it activated yesterday Certainly more likely than the theory we triggered the clause by accident
Forest throwing their toys out the pram. He has a release clause and how often do you hear now that terms with the player have been agreed and it’s just the two clubs to finalise the price. Ferguson used to kidnap our players when he wanted them and nothing was ever said!
It is, I believe. You’re supposed to go to the club first. But everyone does it. Realistically personal terms with the player usually get sorted first because negotiating with clubs can be a massive headache and you don’t go through all that just to find you can’t convince the player and their agent. As long as the club have been sensible about it then there’s nothing much that will happen here you’d think. Who’s to say we didn’t just happen to offer the release clause amount. It is tricky - this isn’t like Spain where every contract has to have a release clause and it’s public. The mechanics around how that works is different to the PL.
I thought it was on the main thread, never mind. Here's how we feel about it https://www.reddit.com/r/Hammers/comments/1lwox3z/official_mo_go/ Not quite how you felt about 'losing' Alli to Everton for £40m, but along those lines.
So right now it’s Morgan Gibbs-Might. Realistically I only see this complaint delaying it by 24-48 hours (cue egg on face in three weeks time…). He has a release clause, whether we should’ve known or not about it and whether we should’ve approached Forest first or not is all minor I’d imagine.
It's really all bollocks anyway, player talks to agent, agent talks to another agent, who talks to another (just so they can get an extra %) who talks to someone at tottenham. How can you stop that?
Could’ve chucked this in the club thread but seeing as we’ve been uncharacteristically hyper active in the last 48 hours with spending I figured it’d suit this thread. Sounds like we’re close to (finally) a naming rights deal for the stadium with a Saudi backer, meant to be very lucrative but no figures bandied about yet.
I ****ing hope not. Ben Jacobs is pushing this, but he's a Saudi stooge. The other story doing the rounds is Nvidia, which seems to have come from Matt Law.
If it's the Saudis, that'll be the beginning of the end. One foot in the door and then an eventual takeover.
At ****ing last. The boardroom cabal of Levy, Collecott and Cullen is broken up. The Lewis family trust appoint Charrington to the board. Venkatesham comes in as CEO...and "Hey ****ing presto!!" Suddenly we've got movement on the stadium sponsorship, a dynamic transfer policy and a coach who might actually deserve to make a third season... Hallelujah!!! It's a miracle..
Without wanting to oversimplify it, any company from Saudi that would be doing something like this will be connected to the royal family there somehow.
