Teams like Brighton and Brentford have had a lot of success with variants on this system. Tony Bloom is Brighton's chairman and he earned a lot of his money through gambling. His company and sports betting syndicate analysis are used to find players via some arcane stat use, apparently.
I suspect that they don't really have any particularly special scheme. The pace of sports such as baseball and NFL allow for even hobbyists watching broadcast events to be able to gather "measure" data suitable for statistical analysis. Given Opta state they may collect up to 23 "events" per minute per game (which then have to be converted into "measure" data) , and the number of games played all season in all leagues, I severely doubt anything near the volume of "source data" necessary is actually being collected.

Morning all. what are your thoughts on anymore incomings and outgoings before the window shuts in just under 2 weeks ? Im personally expecting / hoping for two more players in. Think it’s imperative we sign LB cover for Udogie. Davies can do a job there but can’t play the inverted role effectively. Think Davies will cover VDV at LCB for one more season while we wait to potentially introduce Vuskovic / Phillips / Dorrington next summer. Got a feeling one of Biss or Bentancur will leave this summer and we will sign a CM . We have done well this window offloading players albeit perhaps not getting better transfer fees for Hojberg and Emerson. Still need to sell or loan Reguilon , Solomon and Lo Celso and feel the club need to let Skippy go and get the playing time he deserves.
Reguilon is training with the first team squad isn’t he. Maybe he will be kept around as cover for Udogie?
He always seemed to have the engine to get up and down the pitch but his final ball was hit and miss and when it came to hitting the net he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo
I don’t rate him at all but maybe Ange has decided to keep him around. Would save having to sign a LB I guess.
