Spence and Rodon definitely count. Devine is 21 so think he doesn’t count. So 5 left I think. Reggie and Tanganga will take us to 3 left.
Charlie Eccleshare says that there's a €6m obligation in Tanganga's loan to Augsburg that triggers if they stay in the Bundesliga Better make sure there's a sell-on clause in that, what with Augsburg signing Mergim Berisha from Fenerbahce for €4m in June after a successful loan...and sold him to Hoffenheim for €14m a couple of days ago
even if, in some parallel universe, we managed to bring in those 3 today, for the prices quoted for 2 of them, it would be a huge waste of the Kane money. So I won’t be calling Levy out on this scenario if we don’t pursue them. Using Johnson as one example, we just don’t need to spend £40m + on ANOTHER winger. However, we still need quality and a bit of depth, so at the same time levy needs to pull several rabbits out of hats today in terms of incomings for the right players, as well as the outgoings. if he doesn’t, the fan base is going to be more toxic than it’s ever been tonight. Never have we been in a situation where we’ve sold one of the best strikers in world football compounding the misery felt by so many fans. Even as bad as the Berbatov sale was, there wasn’t so much negativity towards the board as there is now. carnage today if we have a “we tried” situation, and don’t back Ange adequately.
We all know he’s pulling nothing out of a hat, it’s been the case for years. As I’ve said a few times this window already, we no longer do the Levying, we’re the ones that get Levy’d. After selling our superstar, we’ve got a relegation quality striker leading our line without any senior backup (backup for him too, you’d have to be bad ) and in a summer where we all acknowledged we needed two top CBs, we’re targeting a relegation calibre one too. So glad we’ve got that massive new shiny stadium and the highest prices in Europe to be able to afford these guys.
Interesting decision: do we accept straight cash, or do we try for a discount on Brennan Johnson? Neither answer's wrong
richarlisons highest ever total of prem goals in a season is 13. I guess we’re gonna need to hope he reaches at least that many, and not his worst which is 5. If Son’s goal scoring form from last season continues, and Kulu doesn’t start scoring fairly frequently again, we could have some problems, to say the least. Maddison is sure to chip in, and I expect the wingbacks will support the goal tally in a way we perhaps haven’t seen for a long time, but with our new playing style we’re definitely exposed defensively. And probably 1 or 2 defensive injuries away from looking very fragile. I can see a situation where we dominate possession against teams, but we’ll get found out, and more sides will prey on our weaknesses.
Do you think that our decent start has prevented Levy dipping into the market? Obviously if we had lost 2 out of the 3 games their would be more discontent from the fans potentially forcing Levy into strengthening the squad?
Forest have just signed a CB from Brazil. If that new signing doesn't resemble a deer on an ice rink, they have no need for Sanchez.
How do you define dipping into the market? So far in this window Spurs have spent £193.6 Million. and received 112.7 Million.
surely, regardless of a decent start to the season, Levy must know the loss of Kane is monumental to the fans and ultimately how many points we’re likely to get this season without his goals? Who knows whether Levy cares about winning a trophy, but as a businessman he’s gonna want CL football if it’s at all possible?
You would think a net spend of £100m or so for a fifth consecutive year would constitute backing the managers....
Chelsea have signed Cole Palmer from City for £42.5m. He's made a handful of appearances for them. Absolutely insane money. By that yardstick, Evan Ferguson is worth around £300m.
yep, on paper. But the caveat this time round is that we’ve lost Kane in the process. And we can hardly say at this point that we’re better off without him.
Also, credit to Liverpool who have shown that perhaps it doesn’t take 3 or 4 windows to rebuild. Just in their midfield, they’ve got rid of Henderson, Oxlade Chamberlain, Milner, Keita and Fabinho. They’ve signed MacAllister, Szoboszlai, Endo and Gravenberch.
