Bayern are Bayern, because of his age and dodgy ankles they will start off around £70m I am pretty sure that will be a big NO but i don't think you will get £100m either when the deal is closed.
I agree with this and all things considered it would be the least painful of all possible options. If it is happening, we'll probably keep it very quiet until the 11th hour. Levy will fear fan reprisals which will only be abated if we've brought in our primary targets before we announce his departure. We also won't want selling clubs to know that we are flush with cash. I just hope Daniel hasn't had one of his 'genius ideas' and sees Richarlison as a replacement-in-waiting.
He won’t go for less than £90m this summer, I’m certain of that. Whether Bayern pay that or not though is something we’ll have to see.
I’ve already said I have a feeling Richarlison will be given the spot if it happens and we’ll then sign either a “decent” striker or an up and comer to challenge/ compete with him. There isn’t an abundance of top strikers on the market as it is anyway and I don’t see Levy offering Napoli £150m for Osimhen, not that the player would likely say yes either.
Signing a big money striker when we did was in theory a very sensible plan as it allowed that player time to adapt and also cushioned the blow on the horizon of losing Kane in the imminent future. The only part of the plan that wasn't sensible was the fact that the big money striker was Richarlison.
That's a bit unfair, he's not Kane (then not many are) but you are still playing to Kane's strength which is the obvious thing to do. If you lose Kane then you will have to adapt to a new/different striker and may just find (if the manager is up to the change) that the pidgeon is actually a very good striker, not Kane good but normal good.
If that were the case though we (not just Spurs fans, the footballing community) would've already seen it, surely? He's 26 and the most league goals he's hit in a season is 13. He's just an average striker with a fancy name, problem for us is that we paid a world class fee for him. We were doomed from the very start the moment we paid what we did, we'll never really get our money's worth out of him and we'll never recoup what we paid.
They won’t. They’ve never paid anything like that for a player. He would command huge wages and have a much reduced re-sale value (if any). I doubt Kane would have much ambition to win the Bundesliga. He might win the CL, but at present Bayern don’t look like favourites to win that. I can’t see this transfer happening. It’s hard to see him going anywhere.
Exactly. Would a "very good" striker spend 5 years in England playing for Watford and Everton? Not a chance, they'd have been snapped up well before that. £60m is definitely a figure where you'd expect an elite player and someone to significantly improve your XI. He's neither.
I actually think Kane will leave this summer, I think the deal will be structured so that he signs a 3 years contract, but we will have option to bring him back after 2 for a set fee. thus allowing him to win a couple of trophies and come back with time to break Shearers record. I also think that Richarlison will be given the opportunity to be his replacement, though I would also not be surprised if under Ange, Sonny played more centrally. The ultimate irony will then be for Dortmund to do what they should have done this year and win the Bundesliga whilst we win the FA cup!
with the fees we’ve already paid, and the rumoured £50m & £26m for Tapsoba & Van Der Ven (respectively), I’m now wondering if this is the end for Kane. It’s starting to stink of 2013 Bale. I really hope Richardson isn’t the answer if this is the case.
This would be incredible but Bayern are highly unlikely to shell out close to £100m for what is essentially an elaborate loan. They're not as cash rich as the other big clubs, largely relying on domestic Bosmans to replenish their squad. The board there is under a lot of pressure after what was a relatively volatile season - changing manager without results improving much, failing to replace Lewandowski, the drama with Mane etc. They will know full well that a player with Kane's profile will tear the Bundesliga to shreds until he is well into his 30's and I cannot see the fans reacting well or the club forking out £100m for anything less than a 4 year contract with no break clauses. I know I would demand that at a minimum.
As an English player, these are the big milestones that Kane can still pass : 1. CL winner 2. PL winner 3. surpass Shearers' PL goals record #2/3 requires Kane to remain in the PL. #1 is not a given. Munich have good CL pedigree, but not close to Madrid or the Poool. Even Madrid, with peak CR7, took until the 2013-14 season to get to that level (and that was adding Modric and Bale to their existing squad) .
Romano says Solomon in London to do his medical. Deal for Micky van der Ven getting closer according to Charlie Eccleshare. Mike Verweij says Micky has an excellent feeling about us after a chat with Ange.
Romano also now claiming van der Ven’s camp have told Wolfsburg there’s a strong desire in joining us. Contacts with Tapsoba are still ongoing. Really do hope it’s van der Ven and Tapsoba, not or Tapsoba. Solomon’s medical will now take place on Thursday too. No issues just rescheduled.
van de Ven Watch Correction: Romano now says that Solomon's medical which was scheduled for today has been pushed to Thursday Great, that's 1/300th of my daily allocation...
Spurs Twitter is getting incredibly riled up at reports that we might not spend a combined 80m euros on two young CBs who have never played in the PL and who most of us have never seen play beyond a highlights reel. Good to see some things never change.
