plus he’s one of them who thinks his real calling in life is to sing **** songs Hopefully it’s just rubbish talk…dont want him here.
Norwich was good for Skippy and I think a good championship side maybe better than a struggling premier league team.
You want the club to speculate on the possibility they find "rough diamonds" who will in time shine. Correspondingly, there has to be a road map in which the prospect must either shine, or not. In which case, the club can "cut its losses" . Football can be a harsh business for prospects. But if the club is competent/honest/fair, then those prospects at least have most of the power to seize the opportunities presented.
I really think we might have missed a trick with not signing Eriksen, I think we need that creative spark who can unlock a defence when teams sit in deep and try to hit us on the counter I wouldn't mind us trying to sign Lovro Majer, I saw him play a few times last season and think he looks a real prospect. Not sure what Rennes are like as a selling club but fairly sure we could bring him in without costing the earth, maybe offer them N'Dombele in return. Wishfull thinking!
I think a top Championship side is a better option than a struggling prem side, look at Gilmour at Norwich. He struggled and the Norwich fans got on his back it could really knock a players confidence. Especially someone like Gill who probably wouldn't see that much of the ball. If he was at a side like Norwich or Watford he would have a lot more possession in advanced positions and could potentially shine.
Yeah definitely need a creative midfielder this window too. Eriksen would have been risk free but I kinda get why the club didn’t go for him.
Really excited about this move. Helps the HG quota and under Conte could flourish into one of the best RWBs in the game. We do need to manage expectations though. Although he was younger when he moved, Sessegnon arrived after just one season in the PL and look how long it has taken him to look semi competent. Spence doesn't even have that experience so it could be a while until we start seeing his quality.
Thanks for the memories Stevie. You didn't create many, but those that you did tended to be very, very memorable.
Sess likely would've got up to speed a lot sooner if he wasn't habitually injured, missing two months on his arrival due to a hamstring injury, and missed pretty much half of last season due to various knocks and minor injuries It's amazing how all of our 2019 signings managed to get crocked either as soon as they arrived or, in Sess' case, before he'd even signed
Bloody hope so ! What a drawn out saga it's been. Hopefully Spence and Lenglet in before we travel to Korea. After that Hopefully 2 more in , Replacements for Bergwijn and Rodon. From what I've read we're currently over our non homegrown quota by 4 (with Bergwijn leaving) for our champions league squad . Be back up to 5 with the imminent arrival of Lenglet. We have - N'Dombele, Lo Celso, Rodon, Emerson and Reguilon who look very likely to leave and its very possible the club would consider loans for Gil and maybe Sarr too.
There's also Lavinier and Lyons-Foster to take into account, as both of them would need a squad space this season (unless they go out on loan, obviously)
Tanguy Ndombele has said he could be happy to stay at Tottenham after returning from loan at former club Lyon. “Yes, I think it’s possible to be happy at Tottenham,” he told Media Carre. “Regardless of where you can go, you can be happy or unhappy. We’ll see how things go during pre-season. I’m not putting any more pressure on myself than that. Weak **** off out of here
Speaking to my Nottingham Forest friend yesterday. He said Spence was very good for the first half of the season until he got found out and teams learnt how to deal with him. He then became less efficient.
He worked well down the right in tandem with Brennan Johnson but once teams worked that out they were less effective.
Happens a lot to young players in breakthrough seasons. The top ones work out how to progress and add new strings to their bow.
