If ever you wanted someone from the mirror to be reliable! Not that I’m worried he’d leave for Utd anyway but the second part is music to my ears.

I suspect a Bale return is conditional on Spurs being in the CL
(from both the wage budget and Conte agreement aspects) .

Also if Wales don’t qualify for the WC he’ll probably retire anyway.

One last CL hurrah might appeal to Bale.

But no suitor club in CL + no Wales in WC and you are probably right
(under this scenario I doubt he would go to the MLS etc in "pension mode" ) .

Get in Eriksen and Bale and that's attack sorted for me we can then put our money into quality wingbacks and a left sided cb

Good to go...challenge for the league

That’s my view too, if we can get those two in then it saves us needing to spend probably upwards of £80M on similar calibre players and then that money can be chucked on quality defenders.
Likewise the Johnstone deal, saves us needing to spend on a keeper for a season.

We’re paying the £40m or so for Romero this summer and will probably take the cheaper buy option for Kulusevski than wait for the more expensive obligation. So that’s already around £70m+ we could be spending, if we then spent £80m on attackers/ midfielders and roughly £20m on a keeper (we probably wouldn’t even have that much dough to spend), there’d be little to nothing left for the WBs and LCB which are arguably our biggest needs at the moment.

Romagnoli means it's possible to sign a LCB for £0 too - although it seems that Gvardiol is a real target for that role

Sport (the Spanish one, not the bus on the moon one) report that a meeting between Conte and Antonio Rudiger has been scheduled

I take it his reveal video will be him apologising for falsely accusing our fans of aiming monkey chants at him...?

I doubt it’ll happen. Wages will likely be a big issue there.

Interestingly, he's on £100k p/w at Chelsea - which is only £10k more than we pay Dier and Davies, so arguably he fits our wage structure (albeit he'll probably be pocketing a hefty signing-on fee)

I mean more that he’ll probably get a fat wedge thrown at him by other teams that would take him out of our structure. He’s a top CB and will have plenty of suitors. The lure of Conte may not be enough in this case and it’s probably highly CL-dependent too.

You're just saying that because you're afraid that you'll be paying us £40m for Steven Bergwijn...

Isn't Rangnick basically picking your manager and transfer policy?

No. He is making recommendations on managers who will be best suited to getting the best out of the majority of the existing squad.
Any new manager will then work with him to identify future players that will be the correct fit.
The way i understand it he will also be tasked with linking all the younger squads to the first team in style/system so progression of younger players will be smoother and faster.
