Yeah saw those links, rumours Inter want him as well which may open the door for a de Vrij exit. Might as well do a triple swoop on Torino though and take Belotti too. 3 birds with 1 stone…
Apparently we’re one of a few clubs waiting to see what Perisic does contract-wise. Always liked him as a player, even if he is getting on a bit now I’d still take him.
Been playing LWB for Inter for pretty much the last couple seasons. If Reguilon returns to Madrid the signing then makes a lot more sense. If he’s signed to compete with Son I’d say it still makes sense. Moura at LW is a huge no, could even be a surprise departure, Bergwijn is almost certain to leave and I reckon Gil could be loaned again.
Would be a great swap deal for us if it happens - Pau Torres for Lo Celso. He can play comfortably on the left of a back three and could also fill in the middle if Dier was out. Elegant on the ball, 25 years old but with plenty of experience.
If we’d be able to swap Lo Celso for Torres, it may be the best thing Lo Celso will have done for Tottenham. Fair play.
If Spurs qualify for the CL next season and Villarreal do not, would GLC seek to return and really fight for his place, or does he accept that his career in the PL is at an end ??
I think for both our sakes it’s best he seeks a move. He won’t get in our XI over any of Bentancur, Hojbjerg or Skipp and he seems to excel in Spanish football, he’s been very good for Villarreal and was also great for Betis which prompted us to pay big money for him. Hopefully he keeps this form up because there may just be a very good chance we can recoup a fair bit of what we paid for him (which would’ve seemed impossible three months ago) or we manage to get a swap deal sorted for Torres.
It’s just so odd. There’s genuinely a very good player who turns up for Argentina and in Spain and then there’s the Spurs version, who was rarely fit and only once ever put together a good run of form. It was always tempting to say it was positional in the past but he plays on the left of a midfield 3 for his country but more of a forward role in Spain at Betis and now Villarreal. I think we’ll ultimately take what we can get and move on, particularly as I doubt NDombele will sell for an acceptable fee this summer and will need to be loaned again for the shop window. Getting a good fee for GLC now looks possible and our likely main source of cash on and individual level, from sales.
It happens, I think the only explanataion I can give is - “that's football for you”. Some players just can’t adapt to certain leagues, doesn’t make them a bad player in general, just bad for that particular club in that particular league. As you’ve said it’s not a positional issue, he’s been moved about for Argentina and Villarreal and been excellent. Premier League just isn’t for him and he’s nowhere near the first or last person that will be said about. I’m genuinely happy for him - and us - that he’s doing so well. It’s win-win for everyone, he rebuilds his confidence and reputation whilst likely having plenty of suitors should Villarreal not have the money to buy him and we get an unwanted player off the books for what will hopefully be a generous fee. Ndombele hasn’t done too badly with Lyon either but we know for sure they won’t pay the fee and we also know we’re still going to take a big loss should an actual offer arrive in the summer, which I think may, it’s just down to Levy if he’d be willing to accept £20m or less I reckon.
Tottenham and Cardiff are joint favourites to sign Wales forward Gareth Bale, 32, when his Real Madrid contract expires in June. (Wales Online) Bale n Eriksen come in and I think we are up to 3rd already for next season
Been more talk that we’re favourites for Johnstone. Apparently we had an €85m bid for Martinez turned down last summer but his value may be now €70m as Inter need to make money and we could still be keen. Milinkovic-Savic’s name popped up too. Villarreal also looking at a perm deal for Lo Celso. £30m fee currently being quoted as well as a swap for Torres.
