Yeah goes without saying that I’d only want him if Conte wants him, don’t like the idea of a DoF signing players the manager doesn’t want as that gives me flashbacks of Comolli and Jol.

Gil and Dybala instead of Lucas and Bergwijn alongside Kane, Son and Kulusevski sounds very nice indeed.

Don’t see Dybala happening, despite being a free transfer the finances involved in a potential deal will almost certainly be colossal. I think he’d be looking for a £300k+ a week contract, monumental signing on fee, huge agent fees and possible image rights stuff too, not forgetting he’d probably want CL football which right now we’re outsiders for.

Just doesn’t seem a realistic option to me.

Can see him being a target for the likes of PSG/ Bayern/ City/ Madrid/ Barca etc.

I am not convinced that Dybala has the attributes to be huge success in the premier league. I have a fear that if we sign him he will just the latest in the list of record signings who fail to adjust to the speed and physical power of the league.

As I said a while back, I have a sneaky suspicion that we've suggested to Inter that we make a suitable offer for Lautaro Martinez and, in return, we give them a free run at Dybala

Sort of like the agreement we had with Lyon where we signed Ndombele and they got Andersen, albeit hopefully without both clubs trying to get those players off the books remarkably soon...

I think with Kulusevski’s impact and assuming he maintains this level, we won’t be spending big on a forward player this summer unless Kane leaves. Martinez or Dybala would be great as that’d give us unbelievable options up top but I just feel the club is going to prioritise funds for other areas that are of more immediate concern and try to balance out the squad rather than have it “top heavy”, unless the club has more money to spend than I anticipate then Dybala/ Martinez could well be on.

Though I potentially see it somewhat playing out as:

Sell Bergwijn, Gil returns and takes his spot (whilst rising above Lucas in pecking order too).

Use Bergwijn’s sale to fund a move for a second striker, probably in a similar category to a Llorente or Vinicius type.

Use transfer budget plus potential sales of Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks, Rodon and Emerson to fund moves for a RWB, LCB and a creative mid. If Madrid also buy Reguilon back then add LWB to the additions.

Based on what L'Equipe have said, there's a 50/50 chance that Sarr might wind up either being a cup fixture for half a season before being eased into the team, or wind up on loan at somewhere like Brentford, Leeds or Fulham

Metz's catastrophic collapse in form or basic competence this season has been baffling - at least the somehow even worse Bordeaux can blame it on spending their entire transfer budget on Laurent Koscielny before realising they can't afford his wages...

Add £10 million to the budget from the sale of CCV to Celtic.

Football BSider claim that Conte's signed off on letting Reguilon leave in the summer, which would add another £25m

Technically that's confirmation that Reguilon is signing a bumper new contract for us in September, but still...

I doubt that they'll pay £10m for him. That's a lot of money for any Scottish team.
I don't think that any of their transfers this season cost half of that.
Maybe £5m and some add-ons or a sell-on clause would suit both parties?

I've seen £6m quoted and that's certainly more likely, considering they paid Rubin Kazan £4m for Carl Starfelt last summer who's been partnering CCV this season

Of course, last summer's splurge £19m splurge was financed by making £27.5m for Edouard and Ajer, plus a few tidy sums from Bournemouth, Gent and Oostende to take them well clear of the £30m mark, but given the rumoured interest in Juranovic and Turnbull they might have another windfall this summer

Worth posting this as it’s likely we’ll buy him this summer, you’d have to think. I believe the loan fee is actually split (per Ali Gold I think) between this and next season so if we buy him early we don’t pay most of that initial €10m and get the cheaper price. It’s something like a 2.5-7.5 split IIRC. Either way he’s definitely looking worth c.£30m right now, at his age and if he continues to produce this season it’ll be a no-brainier.

Anyone else seen the stuff about potential FFP changes?

Something along the lines of it being scrapped and clubs being allowed to spend 70% of their income. Not sure if this is good or bad for us as I’m not overly clued up on financial stuff.

Presumably it will help clubs that can effectively determine their own income. Like those that kind of sponsor themselves.

Not seen it. But it depends on what costs are included in that 70% proposed spend. Our playing staff wages are, IIRC, a much lower percentage of our turnover than most clubs, so it could be that such a change would put us in a strong position. But I’m not as clued up on this stuff either.

    Where did you hear this?

Yeah it’s so far looking like a very easy decision for the club to make it permanent. Both he and Bentancur have firmly cemented their spots in the XI, surpassing many others in the level of importance to the side already.

I’m seeing mixed responses on Twitter. Some are saying that City/ PSG/ Newcastle will massively benefit from it but others saying it works out well for us too as we apparently have one of the biggest incomes in Europe (though unsure how true that is).
